I probably shouldn't care but I hate seeing someone wearing the same **** as me. Luckily kids at my school own 90% of the world's Hollister clothes.

I see where you're coming from, but from viewing sartorialist and a few other street blogs I just can't agree, there are so many looks out there which I can't pidgeonhole and really 'wow' me because of it. Also if this really were the case, designers wouldn't be able to release season after season, reinvention wouldn't exist, trends would never develop because everyone would just conform to an existing form of dress. With this though, I'm definitely not saying that conforming is a bad thing, there are many people that look brilliant within a niche, but a niche isn't necessary, some people even like the best of both worlds and develop on the niche they like, it's all very grey, truth be told, thats what I love about fashion.

being 16 and a junior in high school i see mostly scene or hollister stuff all over the place. there is however ONE kid in my history class who ventures into sf and mostly sz and has adopted the goth ninja aesthetic. he plans on grabbing a carol christian poell suit and a rick owens bomber among other stuff. he makes a shitload of money doing computer stuff for his parents.

hes spending way too much at his age, he says together hes buying around 5 things for 5 grand buy next winter. two pairs of boots (one lace-up), 2 suits and a leather jacket. i asked him why the suits already, he said he really likes carol's cuts and he wants the blazer+pants and so he has it all for the future.

i dont really give a ****. I dress like I dress because I enjoy it, not to stand out and not to impress people by how much I spend

well i know he makes a lot of dough. has apcs/flatheads, his parents gave him his own credit card because his dad pay him 30 bucks an hour to do computer stuff. i know all of it is the truth because a bunch of people in the class know him enough to be at his house a lot so they can confirm the money he makes and such.

mag - he was grabbing one pair of 2k retail boots for a grand and the jacket was i think he said 2 grand and im not sure about the suits, i think he said a grand each. maybe he said around 6k and not 5k, either way its ridiculous. the jacket was the high-collar rick owens bomber and the suits were both poell. thats all i know, dont know what brands the boots were.
