Cleveland O.H.I.O.

Ya'll,

Some friends and I are heading to Cleveland next weekend to watch my Toronto Blue Jays win 1 of 3 games against the Indians. Aside from my hardcore love of baseball (I live beside the Skydome in Toronto...and yet I travel to Cleveland to watch the Jays play) I also enjoy imbibing fine liquor at not so fine establishments and insulting attractive women to the point where they just have to come home with me to see if I'm for real.

That being said, I would like to hear your recommendations of the best party bars in Cleveland on Fridays and Saturdays. Other things to check out in Cleveland would be welcomed as well (don't say RnR Hall of Fame or Case Western's Gehry building)

Thanks SFers...

Go down to the Flats.

Velvet Tango Room is amazing for cocktails. Lola is a pretty good restaurant.

Check out the Westside Market if you're a foodie.

Clothes, Cuff's in Chagrin Falls is very nice

Flats are dead.

West 6th would be the equivalent, but it's well past it's prime.

What about the warehouse district? I have heard you can't go wrong in that area...advice is 6-7 years old though...

Cleveland sucks.

Flats are dead, West 6th is dead, and the Warehouse District was only a short glimmer of light.

Lola is a good restaurant and the Westside Market is cool.

Go to Sliman's Deli for a good corned beef sandwich.

+1

but it's not a party bar.

Friday night after opening day you'll find a pretty good crowd at any of the bars near the stadium. Most of them aren't anything special, but they'll be full of people.

if you're looking for more refined than sports bar, but still casual, check out bar cento and mcnulty's bier markt on w.25th in ohio city. 806 wine bar and velvet tango room in tremont are quiet places with pricey and well made drinks. good food and drink at lolita, south side tavern, prosperity social club and tremont tap house in the tremont neighborhood.

pm me if you have specific questions.

Thanks...

We are all 25-28 y/o, any Case Western hangouts on Saturday nights be worth it, or too young?

What about Barking Spider?

Case students don't go out.

Barking Spider is a dirty folkie bar. I haven't been to the Euc since they reopened, but it used to be real solid -- punk/indie bands. If you're going to be in that neighborhood you could go up the hill to Coventry -- about 2 miles from CWRU, and you'd have a lot of options on that strip.

West 6th.

Velvet Dog, Ultra Lounge, Bar Fly etc...Cleveland has pretty shitty nightlife, Columbus is much better.

The area around the Cleveland Museum of Art is stunning, with gorgeous Severance Hall and the Cleveland Institute. I guess you won't be seeing the Cleveland Orchestra on this trip, but the Museum and the Cleveland orchestra are two amazing world class institutions in a city famed for its mediocrity, Shaker Heights, notwithstanding.

Enjoy your trip.

While not a party bar, the Bier Markt (just west of the Westside Market) is outstanding - if you like extremely good beer, that is.

Food: Lola or Baricelli Inn for high end will not disappoint Drink: The Wine Cave in Coventry is great, but not really a "party bar". There are a few right around Lola and across the street by basketball arena (all that is relatively close to Jacobs Field). For a party atmosphere, you should be good if you stick around there.

The Euc is still around? Wow...

Is the Grog Shop still worth checking out? Beachland Ballroom?
