sounds like the kind of thing i'd say

anyway, on reflection this is kind of like steampunk - something i really like the look of but probably couldn't wear every day. the slub is a little much for everyday wear. but it is beautiful

There are also a lot of nice details - felled seams, bandana pocket bags

In terms of these of Samurais...I'd go for the raw tweed because that denim is extremely limited and there aren't many pairs left. You can always get Samurais, but the raw tweed is not going to be around much longer. I am alternating between between the Left Fields and Samurai S5000VX.
Please post pics of teh jeans. Imma have to take one for the styleforum team and experiment with a pair.

Back when I saw them BiG only had the one wash. Denim and details seemed cool but the fit wasn't for me. I was excited when the got the raws, but the hem is still too small for me.

I'm thinking about picking up a pair to wear once in a while. They see pretty wild. I don't even know what tweed denim is but it looks crazy. From what I hear though it's not what most people are expecting. I want to see some fit pics though because the leg opening seems a little small.

I just got a pair of the one-wash natural indigo off B&S brand new and while it's not rigid raw, I wouldn't say it's a "hard wash" as someone said. The color is a little light and more blue (although there are patches that are almost black) than some jeans, but that's usually what I notice when looking at natural indigo jeans online; a lighter and more variegated color. I think most of the color is still there, especially as I understand that natural indigo is slower to fade and wash out. I don't know but it could just be a soak (as Context said purpose was to shrink) with a tumble dry. They're nice and slubby, thick denim and are starting to take some creases on the stacks, honeycombs and lap. I think I may do a hot soak of my own soon and put some starch in the water to get a real raw feel. I like the fit a lot too, I've got 31's and they measure to a 30" waist, 10.5" thigh, 7.5" knee, 7" hem. Almost identical to a KMW Rocker fit. I'm sure they will fade great and if they are true natural indigo, they're a great deal. I will photo-doc if anyone's interested in my re-starching project.

Hmm. I like LF denim, but I wish they'd do more cuts that fit looser.

OK so I did a hot starch soak and the jeans feel great! I was even able to get them to do the 'stand' (whereas before they felt soft and not rigid, like a standard one-wash). I'm hoping this allows me to set down a solid high-contrast base before the starch wears out. Fit and detail pix: Fit (is there a way to rotate img's on imageshack? Fabric detail True color (and timer too short!) I also emailed Context about the jeans, here is what Ryan said: "I have seen one pair of these broken in and they do look amazing. The slub fabric allows nice vertical and horizontal fades. They are natural indigo indeed." and "I'll hit up my friend who has a pair at a very advanced break in point and ask if I can shoot some pics for you to post as well. I won't have the pics until late this week as I have our full Wings + Horns, WWM, Dunderdon, and Quoddy pieces to shoot." So look for those pix here and those pieces in the Context store soon! For natural indigo denim, these are a great value, I'm hoping for a good evo as with the 16oz denim these will be my go-to winter jean. PS Someone mentioned that they didn't like the coin pocket stitching. It's not structural and could be easily removed. Me, I kinda like it.

the denim has really interesting character but i'm not sure if i dig the massive coin pocket

edit: can you put up pics of the backside?

No matter how the fabric is like, that is still one nice fit you got yourself there.

Rear

Better denim detail

You can really see the slubs on the weft!

Starching was a good call, honeycombs and stacks are now forming like I wanted them to. The coin pocket isn't big, it's just higher than on most jeans, and overlaps the waistband.

Has anybody encountered considerable amounts of stretching over time?
