Echoing previous opinions"”good, not great. Luckily, the best viewing is the first, so it's definitely worth watching. The direction is deft and the story is well-paced. Owes a bit of debt to City of God.

For a more in-depth (and frankly, more amazing) treatment of poverty in India, see the Apu trilogy by Satyajit Ray.

i thought Changeling should have won best picture.

i'll just say it out here, i did not enjoy Slumdog at all. wasnt entertaining and wasnt well acted, i felt through the whole movie, like, ok, when is this going to pick up? , when is this going to start getting interesting? , when does it start kicking in its best picture status?

never did.

i just liked it when it ended.
but even then the main actress could not dance at all. hurt my eyes.

I thought it was a great movie - very enjoyable from beginning to end and a refreshing break from the countless movies this year that took themselves too seriously. Oscars are a joke anyways, so I judged Slumdog on its own merits independently of the best picture award.

I enjoyed it. For a so called smaller picture it certainly went the distance.

I watched it last night and enjoyed it okay.

I certainly agree w/ GS that Benjamin Button did more for me on many levels. I think it deserved a few awards, but certainly not to clean house like it did.

I am glad someone else rented it, it is one of those films that is decent enough but I tend to just watch on IFC a year or two after their initial release.

I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of 10. A few decent shots, but a relatively predictable story.

Naw, BB was well made, etc. I just found it sort of unremarkable.

I'm with you 100% of the aptly-named Crash (which was a fucking train wreck).

Benjamin Button was brilliantly acted but just went on a little too long.
