JM Weston Sample Sale - Page 4

Still, considering that you can't really find Weston on sale anywhere, and if you are after certain styles, the sale is worth it. What colour(s) do they have for the chelsea boots? Wish I could be there to pick up the navy suede loafers. Just when I needed Dr. Attwood ...

As cloud9 wrote, I found 2 pair in my size, the black wingtip pictured above and a navy suede classic penny loafer. I don't care for black shoes so all I bought were the penny loafers. Norcal was trying on a nice pair of brown captoes, don't know if they fit him as the sizing is insane, I wear a 14 in most brands and the Weston 12 loafer fit perfectly while the 13 wingtip was a little snug. (Must be a french conspiracy).
Glad to hear that you jumped on the blue suede loafers. I would have, too, if I had been there and they had them in my size. I agree with you about Weston sizing: I won't say that it's completely arbitrary, but it's not that far from it.

I also got a pair of Double Stitched Wing Tip and a pair of captoe half broque 8-eyelet boots. I was going to get the monk strap in suede, very sharp, but decided not to, the buckle a little too big. For those luck few with smaller feet, many size 7 cap-toes are steal at $95, Goodyear welt, leather sole.

Too bad I have a performance at Lincoln Center 3pm to go to, otherwise, I'd have gone back for any of you not living in the city. Allan is extremely helpful and friendly, he's the go-to guy.

Boots looked nice, leather or rubber sole ? If only the double stitched wingtips were brown ..... <sigh> $95 for cap toes ? I didn't see those, what a nice ebay haul that would have been.

The boots are in leather sole just like the double stitched wing tip, I'll post pictures later.

I showed up at the store around 12:30 and had to wait in line for approximately twenty minutes before I was let in.  I ended up buying three pairs all in black: a captoe balmoral, a kid leather loafer, and a deerskin suede monkstrap.  The guy at the door quoted me $295 per pair, but at the register they looked up the model numbers on a sheet and only charged $99 for the first two. All things considered, an excellent haul.

It was great to meet a number of the forum members. One of the interesting shoes I tried on was a black oxford with broquing and with quite an angular point. One of the forumites thought it could be a Perry. I put it back because I wasn't looking for black and it quickly disappeared. The label said it was a hybrid oxford or something like that. Did anyone pick up a pair? Btw, I thought some of the best shoes were being worn at the sale than the shoes which were being sold.

Here are some photos of the shoes I picked up today.  Sorry, the pics aren't very good quality. As I mentioned previously, the first two pairs rang up at only $99.  There was a sticker on the loafers with a retail price of $595, but I don't know the prices of the other pairs.

Well, bite me if the boots in 8C end up selling for $99... at that price I would have definitely bit, but for $295... I'll wait until the next Paul Stuart seasonal sale when the Masterpieces are dropped to 50%. Nice seeing everyone again. Towards the middle-end of summer, I might try to arrange a Styleforum dinner or something... Lurkers are welcome to attend, piss and wheatgrass will NOT be on the menu, Italian, French, or Indian will probably be substituted.

I had a good laugh at that, thanks.

I showed up to the sale at around 11:30, waiting on line outside in the heat for about an hour (as if I had nothing better to do). The selection was better than I had thought it would be. But Weston shoe sizing is so funky, I could not get comfortable with the fit of anything I tried on. I guess I am not the biggest fan of Weston shoes. They are nice for sure, but I think I like the UK labels (C&J, Grenson) better. I ended up not buying anything. No regrets there. This was not a bad sale to miss.
