I'm a 32 and I really like the way the Walt fits in 32. I would say just go with the 32 and then have them taken in if need be.

Good pernt on the fabric and holes showing...really I guess it depends how the legs are as well. I tend to go for a slimmer leg so getting the size down helps.

It's 14 days from our receipt of the item. We've got a few Gitman shirts here in Manhattan but not much - I believe just Small & Large in Red OD Oxford and Small in Stars.
Not Donegal per se, but we've got some gorgeous Herringbone tweed coming in. Grape and a Grey Melange. They'll be a knockout!
Yeah, I'd stick with your waist size. Unless the Rudy 33 is really tight on your thighs, it should fit totally fine in the Moleskins. You can always have the legs let out a bit, but the majority of guys wont have to do that.
If you're a true 32, then our Walt 32 should be spot on. I know that it's confusing as our pant measures 33", but that's how trousers work. If your body physically measures 32" at the point where you wear the garment, then the garment itself has to be a bit bigger to allow for a proper fit. Otherwise, it's literally skin-tight. When our trousers a tagged "32" they're meant to fit someone who's a 32 - not be exactly 32" themselves.

If anyone is truly in-between sizes, I typically recommend sizing up. The difference in leg sizing is pretty minimal, and many customers find that the slightly bigger size works without tailoring. It's a different scenario when you have a medium rise, fully constructed waistband. We do denim and Rivet Chinos in inch sizing because you have to dial in a lower-rise fit. For medium-rise proper trousers like ours, you'll often find that it works regardless.

Thanks all, and Mike, for the info. Makes perfect sense. I'm light on "dress" pants--mostly wearing denim, or fully constructed waistbands, which tend to measure true 32". Your points make perfect sense. 32 it is!

Mike, any plans on a Alden flex welt chuk is snuff restock? I'm looking for a 9 but unfortunately its one of the only you're out of.

mike, do the alden flex welt chukka need a Topy/rubber sole like normal leather sole shoes? i usually topy my shoes so i can still wear them on rainy days.

Hmm, not looking like it - I didn't get a shipping confirmation yet. Got some new shoes to go online tomorrow, and I'm working on a bunch of new products. Tomorrow, we're also scheduled to receive our Fall jackets from Fidelty - a Massachusetts manufacturer who makes ass-kicking slim peacoats at a great price. I should be able to get those online Saturday.

New shirts will probably come next week, and I'll post them up as soon as they arrive.

Next Trouser delivery is going to happen around the 3rd week of September. That will include a Grape Herringbone and a Navy Flannel Restock.

Well, they're unlined suede, so you'd probably want to avoid wearing them intentionally on rainy days. The shoes themselves will be fine - they're actually quite tough against water - but your feet will definitely get wet.

The flex-welt sole used on the unlined chukka is actually great for wet pavement. It's so heavily oiled that it's naturally water-resistant. Adding a Topy sole will give it more grip, but it's not necessary IMO for overall durability.
Well, I don;'t have any on order right now, as nothing was available for a reasonable price, but I'm always hunting for deadstock, so it's very possible that I'll come across some. Last week, I came across some absolutely sick Italian Guncheck cloth in an olive-based color tone that I bought and put into production with a quickness. They'll come with the next delivery of trousers in 3 weeks.

Mike, can you just confirm for me that measurements on the website for shirts are of the actual shirt and not just body measurements?

Reason I ask is that I don't think I'd fit any of your shirts, and I really want purple/brown gingham cutaway collar shirt and navy gingham cutaway collar shirts...

I measured what is probably my best fitting shirt, and the shirt comes out to:

Chest: 21 (My actual chest is 38 inches, or 19, but the shirts tighter than 21ish pull)
Sleeves from back: 33
Sleeves from shoulder: 24
Collar: 15.5
Shoulder: 18
Length: 30

The closest shirt is a medium, which goes:

Chest: 20
Sleeves from back: 35.5
Sleeves from shoulder: 26
Collar: 16
Shoulder: 18
Length: 30

...this means the chest would be about 2 inches too tight (overall), and half an inch too big in the collar. I could get the sleeves shortened no problem (I guess I have shorter arms than usual? I am 6'0", so maybe I just have strange measurements), and the other measurements look good.

I think I just have to accept I work out too much (i.e. am too fat?) to fit into most slim fit clothes...

i think the medium will fit you fine. my chest is about a 39-40" and the medium fit me perfectly without any pulling. i was worried about it being too small on me too but give it a shot!

I am a 38 as well with a pretty big chest and medium works perfectly. I think you'll be fine.

Hmmm, I'm tempted to order one now and see how it fits. But what about the neck? If I'm a 15.5, is a 16 obviously too big?

Cool, sounds good. Before I knew what fit was better for me, I ordered a pair of Walts in the super 120s medium grey, and the waist on those fit well, but they were pretty close to skin tight in the thigh area. The Rudy fits pretty perfectly all around, I have 4 pairs now (med grey, black tartan, blue cotton poplin, and brown houndstooth), and they're all cut pretty slim, but I have a little bit of room in the thigh....much more compared to the Walts that I had to return. I'll go for a 33 in the tan moleskin then, thanks!

I will hold off on ordering and wait for you to report back

I am in the same boat but a 34 and am eyeing the Tan moleskins but am scared to even try the Walts.
