what does over dyed mean?
As I understand it, this will be an indigo denim that is then dyed black during the manufacturing if the jeans themselves. Which means that as the black dye wears and fades you get blue showing through. Which I suppose also fades. Never handled any of this myself.
And I'm no denim head, but I have no problem with non-selvedge OD. I'm looking forward to that Wilshire release.
Not would I have any problem with non-selvedge green overdye. Just to bring that up casually, you know.
I can (not so) humbly say that this will be the best denim jacket for the price that the world has ever known. Construction is top notch, the denim is great, and I was especially picky about the fit. I'm entirely agreed that most denim jackets fit horribly. The fit on this is perfect, and it has functional pockets to work as an actual outerwear piece. We'll definitely release it in a host of fabrics. Because honestly, I'll eat one of these jackets if we don't sell them well
Was in the Manhattan store when the sample denim jacket was around, and I concur. It's incredibly well made and well fitting. I am not a denim jacket person, but I'm sorely tempted by this one! It's pretty terrific.
Also re selvedge vs. non-selvedge for the OD denim: even super high end brands like Iron Heart will often use a non-selvedge denim for their OD jeans. I would probably pay the extra $25 for it, but at this price point I imagine a lot of others wouldn't. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.
