Anyone experiencing any shrinkage with their Somelos Oxfords? Mine has shrunk considerably in the sleeve. Or perhaps it was just made short. Either way it's a bummer. That said, if anyone is looking for a white Somelos oxford in XL and wouldn't mind shortish sleeves, let me know...

Sorry to hear that - have not had the same issue with mine.

My Somelos sleeves started out shorter than an EPNY equivalent oxford, but haven't noted any subsequent shrinkage myself

Same.

The Somelos are a good shirt for the price, but I easily prefer the standard Epaulet offerings.

Hmm, I thought each piece was run through a salt wash to eliminate shrinkage?

I've washed both mine cold and hung to dry without issue.

Perhaps it's just how they fit on our different body types but I actually found the sleeve length to be on par or perhaps even the slightest bit longer than EPNY.

Just waiting for a restock in the other two I don't own.

For the lifters: any tips on how clothing sizes change while doing a lean bulk (as little fat gain as possible)? For pants, is it a good guess that waist size wouldn't change very much but thighs obviously would? But by how much? And what about for shirts?

I've dropped from 17% BF to 14% BF recently, with more to go, and it's looking like I've got to replace my wardrobe. The plan is to slowly bulk up again in the near future while keeping it super lean. Of course, muscle is much more dense than fat. I feel like adding 10lbs of lean muscle wouldn't affect sizing THAT dramatically but I've been known to be wrong from time to time.

Would love to hear your guys' thoughts before I go HAM on the EP website!

Hey there - I've been meaning to shoot you a PM but just haven't a chance.

Lots of variables and unknowns in your question but ultimately if you're in a surplus you're going to gain and you're going to gain some size in your waist unfortunately. There are definitely various strategies (lean gain phase with small macro adjustments, incorporating mini cuts etc.) one can use during a gaining phase to minimize fat gain but if you're looking to build muscle you're going to have to accept some fat gain along the way. Unless you're a complete newbie or using gear it is next to impossible to build muscle while in a caloric deficit. The good news is after a gain phase you can cut and show off that hard earned muscle.

Personally when I am in a gain phase I definitely (and annoyingly) add weight to my waist and butt so it puts me in a different pant size. I now just hang on to two wardrobes...one all size 34 pants / 40 coats and the other all size 32 pants / 38 coats.

I'll try to follow up with PM...

@epaulet or others...I own the Vittorio DB jacket and was looking at the matching pants online, which are listed as Walts. Am I mistaken or was there talk that the pants to match these EP jackets would be a new cut between Walt and Rudy? Maybe I'm imagining that I had read that (which is entirely possible)?

I'm referring the coats and pants here - http://epauletnewyork.com/collections/suiting

Nah, its a Walt pattern.  Mike confirmed it might be possible for some Rudy guys to go up a size and take in the waist to make it work.  But if you're a true Rudy guy and fill the seat/thighs on the Rudy, these will be a no go.

In other news, I'm pretty excited for the EFF and Fall Trouser swatches.

Worth noting that the leg opening is smaller on the Portuguese suit pants vs the standard Walts. If you're big in the calfs it can end up being an issue as much as the top block / thighs.

i am 6'3" and about 215, i haven't purchased anything from epaulet in quite some time, i used to take an XXL in their shirts though.

i saw some posts that said it was pretty true to size, some which said to size up, and some which said it was too big haha. (thinking of grabbing the sale version, so i can't just return if it doesn't work out).

My XL camo field jacket felt a tad big (6'2'', 200) but at @Epaulet's recommendation I did a cold wash and hang dry and it noticeably shrank.  It's now just about perfect.  I'd say go for XL, especially at that sale price.

See below.  Based on Mike's fit, I've chosen not to attempt to the Walt-to-Rudy size-up/waist trim method.

As many of you know, I take a Rudy trouser - typically a size 34. I sized up to a 35 in this pic. The pants are comfortable, but you can see that they're tight and the pocket bags are showing a bit. I'm kind of at the limit of the Rudy pattern, and truthfully, I wear the Taylor more these days. I think that our usual Rudy customer can size up one and then take in the waist / let out the leg a bit to get a correct fit.

I was cruising Facebook and looked up Epaulet store and the Thomas Mason shirt was put up in the feed.  The Thomas Mason is in a different league regarding the feel.  It is much softer  and lighter (without being too sheer). I can easily wear the Thomas Mason in an office setting and still look sharp.  I am not taking anything away from the other linen but they are completely different animals. I have to say the color of the Blue Danube is remarkable and i simply love it.  Epaulet definitely delivered on these shirts. I would buy them again without hesitation.   On a side note , I also received my EFF Hertling order today and my God the Midnight Madness Melange was  the star in this haul.

Mind snapping a few pictures? I'm especially interested in the sheerness.

Thanks a lot everyone for clarifying the pants fit for the new suiting. Very helpful.

Hey guys - the Somelos shirts are definitely washed pretty heavily, so nearly all of the shrinkage should be out of them. We've sold about 300 units so far and this is the first that I've heard of any problems. But a couple things:

1) Try ironing out the sleeves. When oxfords and plain weaves are pressed, the sleeves can sometimes gain up to a half inch. That might do the trick.

2) Cold wash / hang dry is the best method to clean all of our shirts. Warm water and tumble dry is also okay. But if the white shirt is thrown in with other whites and washed in hot water or a somewhat hot drying cycle, that can zap some length on it. Could be what happened.

3) Try the iron. If that doesn't fix it, then we'll exchange it out for a new shirt.

The matching pant is the Walt Porto, which is a standard Walt pant with a stronger taper after the knee.

We won't make Rudy trousers to match, but I'm planning to do Taylors for delivery in early Oct. If you can't fit the Walt, then those will be the ticket

Yup absolutely correct, but you'd need really big calves for this to be an issue. It's very rare that guys find the taper to be too strong.

Ah excellent, glad that it worked out!
