I'd also consider contrasting buttons.  White MOP or blonde horn might be too much, but maybe tan horn?  I did an unstructured dark navy fresco suit from the last EFF with blonde horn buttons, though I did flap pockets that time.

Southwick's smoke MOP buttons look amazing with anything navy. Though, as @cyclohexane suggests, the tan horn (U6) buttons are the unsung heroes of Southwick MTOs. They add a pop of color without being too loud.

I can wholeheartedly recommend that austerity brogue but will warn that the Simpsom last is narrow. I normally wear a 7UK in Carmina shoes but my simpsom-last austerity brogues are a 7.5UK. Carmina themselves recommend people go a half size up on that last.

Was about to jump on the 8.  So narrower than the Rain last?

I did exactly this with the last round in the navy fresco. It's been my go to blazer for the past month. Love it. Only change was tan horn buttons.

I did pretty much this except it was in the navy seersucker. I opted for not much contrast in case i wanted to wear it as a suit. Or just didn't feel like standing out with a high contrast button. But I don't have many suits, and could stand out with something else like a pocket square or tie that is removable.

For sure. If Rain last fits very well, this probably won't. You could try sizing up a half size, but then it might be too long.

Thanks.  Rain is already on the narrow side for me so I'll pass.  Someone grab 'em!

Three Southwick suits later, I think I'm done for the summer. Though every time I look at that Linen Blend Seed Stitch, it seems to call me. Looks like the ultimate summer casual SC. I almost want a New England overshirt or a Doyle in it (recognizing that's not possible, of course).

Mike, any idea what the blend is on the Linen Blend Seed Stitch? Is it wool-linen, silk-linen, or something more complex?

I can't decide if this is really what I want to do with the navy fresco. I mean, do patch pockets really make it "legal" for separate wear? Do I really care it someone looks down on my flapped pocket sportcoat? Aren't patch pockets on a navy suit kind of a no-no?

The debate rages on! I think I'm going to get flaps

I like the midnight fresco.  Personally, I'd go unconstructed/half-lined with flap pockets and rock it as a warmer weather suit.  (Like Antonio in the pic.)  Wouldn't bother with it as a separate.  I think the midnight is too dark for the BlazerSuit, regardless how you do the pockets.  I think you'd want something lighter to max out versatility.

@todd v IMHO there is no reason you can't do flaps and nobody would assume it was an orphaned suit jacket just b/c it has flap pockets. I have two navy sport coats and both have flap pockets. Patch pockets are just inherently more casual so people think SC when they see them (unless they are w/ matching trousers)

Patch pockets on suits are completely fine. You'll see many around the forum and the internet. I think if you really want to go flap, you should get the jacket with a ticket pocket to make it look less like an orphaned suit jacket -- and the ticket pocket adds extra flair. Love the ticket pocket on my REDA Crosshatch Fresco suit.

I'm so glad the double monks weren't my size, been looking for a pair for a while and would have been pretty disappointed. Just trying to decide shell or not. That light shade of shell Epaulet sold a while back is perfect, but I can't seem to find that shade now. If any of you guys has a pair in 7.5UK you'd like to move, let me know!

Even for the Grey Fresco Summer Weave, as a suit you guys would do Flap Pockets?
