Placed an order for the derby shawl cardigan.
I had to use ALL my restraint to resist grabbing a second in the Pacific Blue. @Epaulet do you have any full product shots of the Pacific Blue? I could easily be swayed.......

@Epaulet -- are these new Chelseas a different shape from the preorder version? The toe looks more shaped, but I could just be misremembering.

@brp2 yup, it is - the last is slimmer at the toe and it's sitting on a combo sole, not crepe.

Is this another case where I'm gonna be the only one wanting suede for the PTB? Shape looks perfect.

@Epaulet Awesome, thanks! I held off on the preorder as the toe shape wasn't really what I wanted. I hadn't found anything else, however, and these look great.

So when can I order those Chelsea boots?

I expect suede to be a popular request.

@Duke Silver haha, I don't think so. I'm hoping that we nailed it with this PTB - I'll post up some fit photos of it too. I want to shop these around on Reddit to get feedback there as well.

But if we're GTG on the PTB, we can put together all sorts of group buys for it. And I think that doing a suede one would be very cool, as I have pretty much any color that you can think of available.

@budapest12 glad that you dig them! I'll have more boots to show next week and you guys can see the GYW samples that we designed. There's a chelsea and jodphur in there as well.

Hey guys,

I'm going to show you a lot of samples over the next two weeks :)

Here's the first batch. On my last trip to Portugal, I met with two shoe factories: the guys who did our Combat Boots (Blake Stitch) and a new Goodyear Welt facility. My plan is to put together a tight collection of Fall styles that hit a range of price points and dress-to-casual positioning.

The Blake Stitch styles will fall in the mid-$200's and skew more casual. They'll have a lightweight leather & rubber combination sole. And I'll look to run them in a combination of basic leathers (Couro Cromo) and special stuff (Couro Cavalo Horsehide). Like the sneakers, they can be a really competitive and affordable product for the guy who's just getting into better footwear, or a fun and easy item for someone who already owns a bunch of high-end stuff.

Here's two boots. The Chelsea is Graphite Couro Cavalho Horsehide. It's a rad front-quarter skin with great character. The grain is irregular and kind of all over the place. It gives the boot a weathered appearance without any kind of treatment. Very comfortable on the first wear too.

This Jodphur is a deep rust suede:

Now next up is our Plain Toe Blucher. As you guys saw from the Brooklyn closing sale, the "Derby Shoe" didn't quite kill it. We did okay with it in-store, but it never proved popular online - which is where we do the majority of our sales. I think that it was too much of a middle product. Not cool enough for the casual guy and kind of unremarkable for the dressy guy. So we'll make two items to fill this in the future. The Goodyear PTB will be very refined (Annonay Calf or Comipel shell, closed channel, double leather or Dainite) and I want the Blake PTB to be a more relaxed style. I cooked this up:

^ Pricing on this would be in the low-200s, like the Sport Trainer. As Couro Calvalho gets lighter in tone, it gets a little crazier with grain and color variation. Not sure if that's a good thing. You can see that it's pretty irregular on this sample in this light greenish-grey color.

The toebox top down shape and side profile is much improved IMO.

I think this will help dramatically.

I thought y'all had me converted with the gunmetal Combats (which I can't wait for). These are amazing. That chelsea's toe shape is perfect, as is the PTB. As someone who wants jodhs/chelseas without the Hedi ultra-slim toe, these are great. Excited to see the range of the PTB (love that the casual one is a derby, not a blucher) in a variety of leathers/colors. This sample gives off real heavy streetwear vibes, but in a standard brown would sell to a wholly different crew.

Reddit should love these, and I'm excited to see the GYW samples! Also, I'll be the weirdo that wants a chelsea in an offwhite leather or suede.

A quickie this morning of the Vittorio and an Individualized x EP shirt.

Look at that beautiful collar roll.

And don't look at the stupid model's horrible scowl.

The rust suede Jodhpur is fire. Would look amazing with any denim. I think the sole/edging would be better off if dark brown though.

@bkotsko awesome, glad that you dig it! I should have the GYW sample tomorrow or Monday and I'll post them side by side. That one has more of a traditional Grant-last-like shape.

@Plumluck thanks - glad that you like it! I think that the promise of doing these in wacko colors is really interesting. If we run this via a group buy, the price on the Chelsea can be about 15% cheaper than the crepe sole models that are coming in. Each of those crepe units has to be entirely shaped by hand, so it's very labor intensive. If we can hit a $250 price or less on a group buy for these, I believe that guys may throw in for an interesting color that they wouldn't ordinarily want. A milkshake or bone colored suede would be unstoppable.

@bkotsko that shirt came out so rad! Looks great with the coat.

@Darkside agreed on the edge trim, but that's unfortunately going to be a limitation on this range.

The typical goodyear edge is stained at the factory, so you can request different grades of darkness. I typically like some contrast, so I'm always spec'ing antique or light edge trim.

In the case of these Blake boots, that sole already comes assembled from the manufacturer. The edge piece isn't stained in house, so it's either very dark or really light. I wasn't crazy about the really light edge, so chances are this would be the only sole that we run for this product. I've come around to liking that natural stitch on the top of the welt though.

And I tell you - the boot fits and feels like a dream. The sole is seriously light, so the whole thing has the vibe of a sneaker. You'd have zilcho break-in on this and no issues wearing it in wet weather.

Those Jodphur's are great. Would love to see them in a grained calf for use as a travel boot.

Really digging the derbies. Frankly, I sat out the last version because I'm gonna buy the combat boots when they restock, and I didn't think I needed both. But those derbies are definitely cool enough to nab an independent spot in my rotation. I love that you guys are experimenting more and more with interesting leathers.

FWIW, I love the jodhpurs and the chelseas, too, but I won't be buying either because I just got some other jodhpurs and I don't do chelseas. Now, if you made those chelseas into a zip boot, it might be another story entirely...
