I don't wear Rivets (or Khakis), but many soft shoulder/unstructured sport coats go well.  Rivets are easy to dress up or down.  There are many, many options, but I'd suggest avoiding high sheen wool sport coats and focusing on ones with texture and those that look less suit-like.  Cotton, Linen and Wool all can work.  For example, from Epaulet:

Wear with Chukkas, Trainers, Monk straps, derbys or loafers .  Really only oxfords would be hard to pull off, IMO.  Can be done, I'm sure.

I'll wear rivets and other casual chinos (RRL, WvG, &c.) with unstructured jackets, particularly ones that flirt with cardigan territory. Harris Wharf, Barena, EG, and some W+H offerings all work. Oliver Spencer might also be an option. Basically anything that steers clear of suit jacket territory. Patch pockets, rustic textured or jersey fabrics, single vent or ventless, and any additional details like full-length buttoning or a stand collar make it easier to pair a jacket with chinos (or jeans, for that matter).

@asaa1000
not at the moment, but that's definitely a cool idea. Kind of like a Dunk Low.

Any thoughts on adding a zipper to the court highs as an option for preorders, or offering another high-top model with a side or back zipper? I love high tops, but I'm too lazy for the amount of lacing and unlacing involved in putting them on and taking them off.

I love my EFF sportcoat. It's possible that the shoulders might be a tiny bit large for me. By a very small margin. It's a 44R. Not nearly enough to go down to 42. Can the size be customized to measure or are we locked into the sizing convention?

It's also possible that getting unstructured shoulders would fix the problem.

@peppercorn78 we can do small adjustments to the pattern for guys who have ordered before. So if you have a jacket already, feel free to send a set of photos.

Easy things: adjust length down to 0.5" in body or sleeves, put more or less room at the waist

Hard things: chest (basically can't do anything outside of odd & even sizes), shoulders (we can adjust the shoulder width by a half inch, but that's really it)

Are the shoulder measurements different between the natural and unconstructed shoulders? I find that in order for an unconstructed shoulder jacket to fit me, the shoulder measurement needs to be slightly wider than what it would be on a more built up shoulder.

@tricky I don't personally fit in Rivets, but i see customers do that all of the time. Especially textured sportcoats.

most of my casual shoes are camper, so im confident on that sizing
otherwise I am a 9uk wide in most dress shoes (like C&J), if anyone can weigh in on that,

@fox81 oh wow, man I haven't tried on Campers in a really long time. But I'd day that the C&J is a pretty good reference. Most guys would go up a full size from their UK fit, so a size 10 in your case.

For the width, do you find that a lot of shoes are too narrow for you? If so then only do a 10 in the Sport Trainer or Full Court. If you can wear most stuff and you just choose a wide in C&J, then the other shapes should work as well.

The black looks tough with that collar zipper.

I'm leaning towards the moleskin just for longer seasonal use up here,  but that Black duck is tilting the scale.  Anyone though about waxing one of the canvas versions?

@CanadaCal agreed, I wish that we had light-wash or white jeans to shoot with the khaki jacket. That would be the ultimate for me!

I know that @FrankCowperwood waxed one of our duck canvas jackets a few years ago

@notwithit it's definitely a cool idea, and I discussed that with the factory a while back. It requires a pretty big pattern change, so we could only do all of the with or all of them without a zipper. It makes the cost nearly $20 higher too, so I opted to keep it as is.

That said, I'll have more boot designs in Fall that have zippers.

@StanleyVanBuren they're pretty much the same, and I'll typically see guys wearing both of them equally well when they're fitted in our shop.

The only issue arises for guys with particularly narrow shoulders - like Matt Smith. He wore the Natural shoulder just fine, but the old unconstructed shape (Napoli) tended to hang off him. Nothing terrible, but it bothered him. So he'd have the shoulder taken in.

Our new unconstructed design doesn't really have that issue. It's modeled after the Vittorio and the shoulder is IMO the best soft construction that Southwick as ever offered. Like the Vittorio, it just works for a lot of different physiques.

Here's a little preview shot that I put on Reddit yesterday. This is our new slip-on shape, slated for delivery in June-July.

We'll get it three ways:

1) Black smooth with ecru sole

2) Grey suede with ecru sole

3) Caramel woven leather as shown below. For production, the woven leather will go all around the shoe, not just on the vamp.

@CanadaCal Yes. I waxed a canvas Doyle with Otter Wax. It's pretty easy. Just requires a little time, some elbow grease, and a hair dryer or heat gun. It didn't turn out like a Filson or Barbour waxed finish. The duck canvas is a larger scale weave (if that makes sense) and so the wax goes on differently.

You should give it a try!

Oh snap!  That caramel woven is an instakop.  Hope it's June and just in time for warm weather.

That makes sense. It would be worth the extra $ for me, but I don't know that the appeal would be broad enough to make all of the extra pattern work worthwhile.

Bottega Veneta going to come calling!

Mike,

A thought for next fall. Could Northern Waters do a cotton cardigan? I love the Heirloom but there's honestly sometimes when I'd want a cooler wearing version of it. Thoughts?

Mike and Co.,
I'm debating about ordering a second museum calf shoe. I'm already in for the combat boot in gold. I have an affinity for green shoes and am torn between the Loden in either the full court high or the tennis high. I do not own either silhouette yet. I'm wondering which one you guys think would get more wear and how would you wear them, chinos, tweeds, denim, etc. It is St.Patrick's day after all and I feel an impulse buy coming on this evening. Help me with my decision.

Grey suede ecru sounds awesome. I have a Gustin slip-on due in May but frankly I'm not convinced on their sizing so it may be a case of returning that one and jumping on this one. The hits keep on coming!
