Jet-lagged phone snapshot of maiden voyage of the natural CXL Alt Weins in Taipei. Major props to @EP Dylan and David for getting these on the truck right away so I could have them before I had to get on a plane.

Great picture.

Looks like a Mondrian.

@Epaulet Will you be stocking the Grey Hopsack Walts in size 35 in the foreseeable future?

@duff406 and @Burzan  I just pulled the trigger on a pair of Driggs Duck Canvas chinos in Moss... saw your two recent pics from last month and wanted to get some insight from you both.

How do you like them? Whats the material like, comparable to anything else you have (non Epaulet)?

thanks for your help. This is my first purchase from Epaulet!!

These days I'm shooting with:
Sony RX1RII
Sony A7RII
Leica Q

Mike: Off-topic, I know, but what are your thoughts on the Leica Q compared to the RX1Rii?

@hubert not off-topic for me at all!

I'm actually going to write reviews of both of them. We'll have a new "Journal" section of our site in the next few weeks, and I'll try to pepper in some reviews of interesting stuff that we use.

Here's the short list:

Leica Q

Pros: Great pics with a very cool look, fun to use, fast, stylish design, everything "works" well, 28mm is nice for travel and landscape, awesome viewfinder

Cons: 28mm is hard for portraits, Macro mode pretty unremarkable, decent price for a Leica but overpriced compared to everything else IMO.

Sony RX1RII

Pros: Great lens, HUGE Images, really functional Macro mode, very small and portable body, perfect 35mm focal length, tilt screen, pop-up viewfinder

Cons: Battery life is a joke, operation is slow and a little clunky overall, viewfinder is kind of squinty

Since I own both, I find myself taking the Q out for personal stuff and using the RX1 for work. The Q is absolutely more fun to use and I really enjoy it. But if I was choosing between the two, I'd have to recommend the Sony. 35mm is just more usable in most settings than 28mm and the pictures are so freaking huge that you can crop them to nearly anything that you want.

@edubs01 yes, in about a month.

We're going to stock basic Navy & Grey Hopsack in all fits:

Walt

Taylor

Driggs

Rudy

I'll try to keep every key size in stock as much as possible. The idea is (1) customers can always get the basics and (2) people can use them as fit samples for MTO work

The only stock pants that we're going to run are Walts & Taylors for the season. I'll post up the order once we finalize it, which will be in a few days. If anyone wants to preorder an extended size (less than 30, more than 36) then we can add you in with no MTO upcharge.

@cyclohexane glad that you're enjoying them!

INDIVIDUALIZED MAKEUPS

Thanks again for all of your orders guys! We sent about 150 shirts over to Individualized last month. I'm going to try and shoot as many incoming shirts as possible so that we can build up a bank of "made" images. Here's the first two:

Brown Benton Gingham: $160

As I wrote in the description, I'm really enamored with this cloth. At this point, I've seen something like 2.1 million ginghams in my time. But it's rare to see a brown one, and this one is really fresh.

Navy Bengal Stripe: $170

This is my personal shirt. This is a great way to get into stripes. It's bold as hell, but really wearable. Could be done dress or casual. I ordered it with the huge-ass Artisan collar, which we're loading in as an option tomorrow. I'll post up some fit photos by the end of the week too. The points are so long that it's going to stay under your jacket lapels until the cows come home. Without a sportcoat it's pretty Neopolitan Playboy, but ain't nothing wrong with that.

Thanks, Mike! Looking forward to the new Journal section of the site -- I'd love to see your full reviews of these cameras.

Uh, Mike, I notice that a trouser model is missing there...

I understand if it is not going to be a stock item, but is it going away for MTO?

@FLW

Haha, nope, the Gable is here to stay via MTO! I may do a few OTR versions of it too.

Because the Taylor & Gable are essentially the same thing, it's a bit too much of a duplication to run both of them. And when it comes to an OTR buy, nearly every dude is asking for the Taylor due to the belt loops and normal waist. Although we were split 50-50 on popularity of the two in Made to Order.

Speaking of which, we got some GORGEOUS Gables in the end of last week for customer orders. I shot a few of them, I'll get the images posted up tomorrow.

Oh also, I'm sorry for the weird paypal step that happening in our online shop at the moment. We always used paypal for clearance, but it was seamlessly integrated. There was some kind of Shopify refresh last week that knocked it out, but I'm going to try and fix that ASAP.  It's on the list!

Glad the Taylor is sticking around. My first ever Epaulet purchase and they're perfect. Will definitely order hopsack when it goes on sale.

sizing question for the sport trainers on massdrop...

i wear an 8 in AE Park Ave's with normal dress socks and an 8 in vans authentics (sized for no socks...with socks these are kinda tight).  so i'm leaning towards grabbing the alabaster sport trainers in 8.5  does that sound right or should i go with the 8?

I also wear 8 AE 5-last with dress socks. I wear tennis and running trainers most comfortably in 8.5 with crew socks. I can fit into size 8 tennis trainers but they're much more snug. No experience with sport trainers but sizing is reported to be consistent. So I would personally say you have to choose if you prefer a more snug or a more generous fit, but I think either will work.
