@Roguls I think the Taylor is maybe even better than the Gable. Working off of @FLW's comment about how wearable they actually are, once you substitute the more traditional waist band in on the Taylor and bring the rise down a shade (and they are still plenty high), I think only discerning eyes will note that there's anything unusual about them. What they'll see are really nicely proportioned trousers that you look comfortable in.

I'm really glad that you dig the high-rise shape @FrankCowperwood - you wear it perfectly!

I just had a meeting with our patternmaker, and we are GTG for MTO on this. Should go up in about two weeks right after the final paper cuts come in. The high rise shape will offer a few variations:

1) Taylor Waistband with button-thru and belt loops or side tabs

2) Taylor Waistband with extension closure and belt loops or side tabs

3) Gable Waistband with its extra height and very long extension. No loops or tabs are possible

We have a RAD selection of fabrics for the Spring, and man... there's so many good choices in these shapes. We'll make brace buttons standard on all of them. I can't wait to see what all of you guys come up with!

As far as what Roguls said about sizing, I went down a full size from my brannock as I have read posts and have communicated with posters who advised me on sizing due to my feet and heel width. As I said in my original query to Mike, my feet are on the narrow side of 11.5 D; being 4" wide at max width and a 2.75" wide heel.

I wear 10.5 Vibergs on the 1035 and 110 lasts with toe room to spare so I have gone with my Viberg size.

I will find out in a few days if I did right.

Excuse me if I've hijacked this thread.

@metranger8694 thanks for ordering! Sorry that I missed your initial post, but I think that you sized it right. It's tough to compare apples and oranges, but I believe that most guys would take the sizing that you figured.

In regards to color and tone, I'd say that Color #8 is pretty consistent from Alden. It's usually a dark burgundy/oxblood, and sometimes has a bit of purple tone to it. The variation that you see from one makeup to the next usually stems from different photography techniques, cameras, or light sources.

I can't guarantee that these will fit you perfectly, but I can guarantee that you're going to like how they look in person. Color #8 shell with Alden's antique edge finish is basically the best thing in footwear, period.

I tried the Michigan Boots last year at the DC Alden store and have to agree that they are really really comfortable. I think the Van last is underrated in terms of comfort. My two favorite pair of Alden are both on mocc toe Ranger shoes on the Van (snuff suede and #8).

I would personally like to see some nailhead fabrics which I love for the spring and summer.

Anyone need a sz 33 denim looking to trade for a sz 34?

Taylor photos (plus EP Tweed jacket and suede belt)

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Caveats: It's not the trousers' fault that I didn't bother to steam them after washing. I've also just turned the cuff up once and haven't had them hemmed yet, so that's not as clean as it ought to be either.

But I think you get a feel for the cut overall.

^ I'm looking forward to see the Taylor in dressier materials.

You rock high rise perfectly.

Do you think the Taylor or Gable work without a jacket also? I believe the Taylor would but I am unsure about the Gable.

I stumbled on these Brixton boots on the bay recently and grabbed them up. I'm pretty pleased with the purchase. These were originally done in late 2012, correct? Don L has several photos in his pair that helped encourage me to buy these!

Getting their first wear today with some Wilshire jeans. Seemed appropriate, getting the EP stuff back together!

Thanks!

Taylor without a jacket absolutely.

I'd think the Gable would work too. Stay tuned for some photos early next week in the Gable and I'll take some with and without jacket.

Oldie but a goody getting worn today. EP Saddle Shell Salingers. I remember that this was my gateway EP purchase, and having lusted after these for months.

^ Very nice. Carmina was also my gateway into EP shortly after discovering SF. Funny how it seems like all those shell models ("rare" or not) were plentiful and easy to come by just a couple of years ago.

Have the EP navy shell DM, but those look fantastic!

@El Argentino wow, those look GREAT. They're from like 2012 or something, right?

@clarksdb I think both can be worn jacket-less, I've certainly done that with the Gable.

My only personal restriction is that I'll only wear the Gable with dress shoes. I'll wear all sorts of dressy trousers (flannel, hopsack, cotton-linen) with boots or sneakers, but the Gable is asking for a pretty refined shoe. The Taylor looks great with casual footwear if needed, although the stock fabric choices also dictate that a bit.

EPAULET FULL COURT HIGH TRAINER GARNET GRAINED CALF

This is a bit of a departure from our usual style, but I'm kind of in love with the monochromatic red look on these. We just received a run of 24 units on them:

I like those Garnet trainers. Just commenting -- I don't wear trainers enough to justify the purchase and I have the unfinished HH on order.
