It may be worth your while to inquire about getting it MTO. I didn't get it in its first run (which didn't include size XS anyway), but saw one in person when I was in Brooklyn and it turned out there was enough fabric left to do mine MTO, at least, so perhaps there is more still...

And Mike/@Epaulet, how bold are the pinstripes? It's hard to tell with pinstripes on an up close swatch.

When you say versatile, do you mean can pair it with any shirt/tie or wear it on any occasion?

I think shoe color and occasion would be my primary questions. This truly represents the paradox of choice problem!

For shoe combinations, I think they are all basically equal, perhaps the hopsack being at the lower end because it is quite dark.

For occasions, I'm going to say the hopsack is most versatile because it works best on those occasions when only a dark suit will do (wedding, funeral, religious occasion, job interview). Birdseye is a close second.

Now, for my opinion...

If you have a navy suit already or something equally dark and simple, then I would suggest the pique. I have the navy pique from the last MTO program and has a very nice feel. I might even get one for myself. The birdseye is the most...."suit-ish" in my opinion. Not too exciting, but fine.

I do have a navy suit that works perfectly for those occasions, so you make a good point. Maybe now I should decide between the grey pique and the gunmetal cross-hatch?

I essentially followed this same logic to narrow it down to the same two options. I went with the pique because Mike had mentioned the REDA had a blue cast to it and I wanted something more pure grey. Unfortunately (fortunately?) I think the REDA crosshatch sold out, so it might make your choice easier.

@Beatlegeuse thats a bummer, that was a good, staple fabric. I know this  might be a bit of  departure from what you're looking for but you might consider the Loro Piana Navy Windowpane Twill if you're looking for a seriously boss navy sport coat.  It won't breathe quite as well as the fresco but it is a suiting weight and would be appropriate on all but the hottest days.  It has a ridiculously good hand - and this is an insane price for this grade of fabric.

@bradp Yep, your local dry cleaner should be able to sew this back on no problem

@justinkapur great look! I'm in love with the pocket fest that is the field jacket too. You don't realize you need that many pockets until you have them!

@ReedCA great choices - I'm actually thinking about a pearl grey flannel double breasted suit :slayer: I've been wanting this exact suit for so long and I'm psyched that we came across the right fabric :nodding:

Thanks.

@bullswin I'm assuming you mean the onyx hopsack vs the charcoal pique, correct?  If that's the case, the onyx hopsack is the more formal amongst those two fabrics but it still has some lovely texture to it.  If you're looking for a very conservative suit that you can wear to formal occasions (interviews etc.) then I'd steer you in the direction of the onyx.

The Charcoal pique has a bit more surface interest and color variation to it making it a bit less formal.  That said, bear in mind that the picture you're looking at is a closeup so it does overstate the color variation - this fabric reads as solid unless you're right next to someone.  Overall, it is going to read as a lighter shade of grey than the onyx as well.  This one is definitely one of my favorites.

I'd say if you're looking for something very formal the onyx is a fantastic choice but otherwise the charcoal pique is a bit more interesting (plus it is super soft!).

@Dillardiv It looks like Michigan Planner and Todd V have already steered you in the right direction here and you've got it narrowed down to gunmetal crosshatch and charcoal pique at this point.  Unfortunately the gunmetal crosshatch fabric is all spoken for, however, I can't say enough good things about the charcoal pique.  The hand on this fabric is insanely good and it really has a lot of surface interest up close without being the least bit loud.  I was at Southwick helping with fabric selection and this was one of my favorites.

On the pinstripes, they're rather thin and spaced closely together so they're not crazy bold (I'd call this a very tasteful pinstripe) - but they do contrast pretty sharply with the navy backdrop

@Epaulet did I hear that the November EFF trousers will be shipping this week?  Just wondering because I have a pile of slacks to drop off at the tailor and want to get that in as well :)  Thanks!

@JR Magat yep, we've got some of the crew over at the factory today handling shipments so they'll all go out this week (in fact, I think we should be finished shipping all of them today).

@EpauletI emailed but didn't hear back. Need to make a few changes to the Southwick EFF suit. I'll be in NY on Saturday. Can I just come in the store and do it or is that too late?

Steve, I can tell you that Mike is absolutely slammed right now and will get back to you ASAP. No clue on the Saturday thing... :-)

I bet! No real rush except I bought the suit without paying any attention to options as I figured I'd handle it later. If it went to production I don't know what the heck I'd end up with.

For any of you in NY. My girlfriend is a painter and has a big opening at The Hole a week from today. Stop by and say hi!

Awesome. Grape flannel EFF trews are in! Gonna pick them up tomorrow, maybe get measured for an EFF SC too. Haven't decided!

I've narrowed it down to an Oxford Flanella Suit and MAAAAYBE a Charcoal Pique to add some spice to my daily navy/grey suit wardrobe.

The question I've been struggling with is whether or not to Harris Tweed. Love the idea, insane price, and I'll never find my size elsewhere (37XS). I'd wear it more casually... but will I really wear the heck out of it?
