Notes for Southwick Tomorrow

Hey guys,

Okay, we've got a solid layout for everything tomorrow. We spent a few hours in the warehouse and worked everything out with the Southwick team. Here's some bullet points:

1) This is an EPIC sale. I've mentioned before that Southwick moved factories - it's a process that took nearly a year. They're still leasing the old factory, and it has a ton of awesome fabric in it. We have full and open access to it. There's stuff in there that is seriously awesome and old school. This is not only the most expansive project that we've offered, but it will probably be the largest one that we can ever do. Think of it as a bit of a "moving sale."

2) Prices are set at $575 for a jacket and $795 for a 2-piece suit. That will hold for all fabrics, with one exception - a Harris Tweed 2-piece suit will be $825 because we'll deliver the trouser fully lined.

3) Delivery in 4-6 weeks. Everything will run through the MTO line, so it's much faster than previous projects like this. And you will be shipped direct from the factory (except for International guys)

4) Our fabrics are insane. There's a lot to choose from, but I can tell that you sourced a ton of Harris Tweed, lots of versatile dressy items (Pearl Grey flannel, hopsack, medium grey Super 150s, Moleskin) great checks and plaids. There's even an extra-thick 100% cashmere that you could use for the MOST bonkers suit of all time. Same price!

5) We'll have the fabrics separated into several categories. Many of them will have enough cloth for about 3-10 suits. A few of them more than that. And a whole slew of them are true Ends with enough for only one jacket or one suit. When you order the fabrics with more availability you will go through the whole process of choosing your details at the point of buying them. For the Ends, you'll just check out with the fabric and then we'll work out your details later.

As the Ends are all one-offs, I think that this is necessary to keep things organized. Its a process to choose all of your MTO details, and I don't want something to sell out while another customer is working out their details. This way the Ends category can move quickly.

6) Sales are final. Once you've committed to a fabric, it's claimed for you and cannot be changed or canceled. We'll wait 3 days to submit your order just in case you want to make any changes to sizing or details on it. We'll be happy to help anyone to find out their sizing if they're new to our Epaulet & Southwick suiting. So if you see a fabric that you love, you can buy it and work out your sizing after the fact.

7) I've mentioned this Harris Tweed MTO suit thing for $825, right? With a Harris Tweed pant? This is abso-freaking-lutely insane if you live somewhere cold. You'll love it!

8) We can take requests and answer questions on the fly. We'll be online here all day.

I hope no one at work expects me to do anything tomorrow.

Real fast, Mike are you going to post the link here in the thread? If we go straight to your website where do we access it?

can't wait to see some of the ends offerings. What an incredible promotion on both fabrics and pricing

@justinkapur I'll definitely post the link here. But all of the items will go active in this category tomorrow:

Oh, and I meant to stress that we have a LOT. So there will be plenty for everyone. And we'll stop listing fabrics tomorrow, but the window to order will be up until next Wednesday. So there is going to be plenty for everyone. We'll have you covered if you want a nice staple suit. We'll have you covered for a tweed jacket. And we'll have you covered for absolutely crazy things.

After the suiting promo ends, we'll take stock of the remaining cloth and then run a trouser round for a week. We want to turn all of this stuff into garments!

You are going to break the Internet tomorrow.  Probably worth it.

Can we place an order to reserve our fabric with estimated sizing, then come into the shop to get sized & finalize before wednesday?

 yes, that should not be a problem. The issue was using horsehide on a Chelsea - and the specific way that Chelsea's are blocked and formed.

The Combat boot is a lot easier to make, so we'll be good to go. We'll have the Derby and Combat available as options for all future group buys based around specific leathers.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
@bry2000
 not as of yet, but we're definitely considering a stock run in one or two colors of suede.

@Mr. Six
 glad that you dig them! Yes, both a belt and more color options are on the drawing board. I'm headed to Portugal in late Feb, so that's probably when we'll run the next peorder AND offer belts along with it. They'll probably fall in the shell cordovan pricing level.

Definitely get your Rivet Chino size in the trouser. You've got seam allowances all over for tailoring in or out, but most guys would take the same size in both.

For the jacket, most guys will either get their typical size or go up by one. Going up one is always safe if you're a first-time customer to the shape. Or you can just compare the measurements of a jacket that fits you well to one online.

@bradp
 they look great on you! And yes, we've hashed out the Walt fit for Luigi Bianchi - that will be available for suits in the Fall.

@p0rkbelly
 thanks so much - you're gonna love it!

@Roguls
 @TO Tie Guy

@El Argentino

Okay... I worked it out... we can do the RUDY!!!

Now, it's not going to be exact. What we're going to do is add extra room in the thigh and the seat and work to mimic the Rudy's leg taper. I think that the fit will be great on you, but it may not follow the exact same shape as it's not cut from a patten. But it should work just fine, and you've always got tailoring space for making it bigger or smaller. I'm going to include a Rudy option in the dropdown tomorrow. So both Rudy & Walt are available.

And yes, you can order a DB jacket as well.

@SteveH35 - we'll start at 11AM EST. Running until about 4PM.

@Notreknip - we're actually going to increase the lapel width by 0.5" from where it was before. We've been thinking to do it for a while and now they can. So it will be a bit larger than in the past, but not so much that it's a huge difference for anyone who owns a previously made jacket. I'll have the exact measurement tomorrow.

Haha, it's like my bat signal!

Dope. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif I'm aware of approximately zero other brands offering a combat boot in unfinished leather, much less the unfinished HH you guys are using. I'm definitely looking forward to those.

For an all around casual khaki trouser, would you guys recommend the Slim Walt or the Rivet Chino?

If I am a perfect 34 in the Wilshire (maybe even slightly snug when I sit), should I go with 34 in the Rivet or 35?

How cold does it have to be to wear a cashmere or Harris Tweed suit? Cold like Philly or cold like Duluth? cold[1].gif

Are cashmere pants a good idea? I recall this being a no-no in the past. Too much crotch friction?

Thinking about pulling the trigger for my first sportcoat and first epaulet purchase!
