Thanks man.  They made up nicely; better in person than the photos.  The brouging shows nicely/subtly with the reverse chamois.

I've been trying to tell you guys. This shoe is unreal.:bounce2:

Would make up beautifully as an NST boot or Alt Wein Boot on Grant?  Can they do that?

I know a lot of people will sneeze at a rugged leather on Plaza, but I happen to like Plaza's aesthetics.  Would be similar to this on Aberdeen.

Also for the Alden pre-orders, does EP ever offer B width?

I'm unsure of my Barrie size and don't have feet that suggest a Barrie would fit all that well...  Was thinking my best bet would be an 8.5 or 9 B width.

@ahjota probably, although that's TBD.

Southwick's priority is going to be jackets and suits. Bigger wholesale invoice and more work for them. The rationale behind these projects is to move through some older or short-run fabrics, and to generate some work in a typically slow period.

If we can offer trousers, it will probably be in a smaller selection of fabrics, and only after everything is claimed for suits and jackets. Maybe we'll do a quick trouser round the week after. The pricing won't be able to compete with Hertling's EFF rates, as Southwick is typically about 30% more expensive than we we usually charge. It's the nature of suiting manufacturers - they typically charge more for pants than a dedicated trouser place. But, there may be some fabrics that are so rad, it will still prove appealing. We'll have to wait and see.

@chrispy650 you'll love them. I'm a fan of Wolverines, but the Innsbruck Indy is in a whole other class.

Drinks Monday would be great. I may be in AZ but I should be confirming my plans today. I would suggest getting to Andover on the early side; traffic from Boston up 93 is brutal anywhere close to rush hour

@kickstand whoops, my fault on that - all is fixed.

And we sold a few Alt Wiens already. If anyone on here ordered a pair then don't worry - it still came through correct on our side. Images are attached to each variant.

Also, what is the weight of the cotton twills?

@novaeagle The cotton Walts are all Fall/Winter weight. Khaki twill is a bit heavier than the usual khaki. Grey brushed and Steep Twill are about the weight of a jean. Moleskin is really heavy, and is the thickest trouser that we run.

In the case of the Moleskin - and Moleskin only - you may want to give your normal Rudy size a shot. The thicker the cloth, the bigger the legs make up (typically), so I've found that a lot of Rudy guys can comfortably wear the Moleskin Walts in their typical size. You'd want to go up an inch for the other fabrics though.

@Todd V Yeah, we'll have a better idea of things on Monday.

I guess that it will largely depend on available quantity. If they've got enough cloth for 6-8 suits then we'll just build out the item in full.

For really desirable stuff with tiny amounts available (1-2 suits, expensive cashmeres, harris tweed, etc), I may do a separate "short run" item where you just pay for either a jacket or a suit and then submit your sizing and specs after the fact. I think that those items will prove to be really competitive and I'd hate for a bunch of dudes to be going through the motions of choosing buttons, pockets, etc - only to hit enter and find out that someone else bought it in the meantime.

I can't promise anything, but it shouldn't be radically more expensive than the old Factory Finds prices. I believe that it will be mostly that, plus an MTO surcharge to cover the single-unit production. Still an awesome value, and you can now buy something heavyweight with the expectation of still being able to wear it this season. We'd be looking at delivering these at the end of Feb or before.

@Don L @rydenfan fantastic! I'll have a better idea today, but I think that we'll do an early dinner with SW after the factory tour and then look to hit a place for drinks later on - maybe in the 8:30 range. That way traffic isn't such a problem (hopefully)

@CanadaCal  I love the idea of a Plaza last boot in Earth Chamois. I'm honestly going to shy away from the Grant last for future makeups. I really like it a lot - I think it's one of their nicest shapes, but it's not a popular one with most of our customers. I think that sticking to Plaza, Barrie, and Tru-Balance is probably the best way for us.

Who sell this makeup?  I love my choco tankers but they are a bit clunky.

the Barrie lasted version? I love that makeup and find it to be one of the sleeker Barrie makeups. Surprised to hear you find it clunky. especially since a suede boot with commando sole should be a bit on the rounder side

Yep, the Barrie version.  It's a 4 on the clunky scale.  The Aberdeen is just sleeker but perfectly happy with the Barrie.

My modest getup.  All EP except for the coat.

Does anyone know if the current EPLA Overdye Oxford shirts that are on sale on the site are leftover from the first batch? I read some reviews that the first ones were a little on the small side and since im on the edge of the XL (according to the size chart listed for this shirt) I wasn't sure if I should stick with that or go with the XXL. My only concern is since these are prewashed if i went bigger i wouldnt be able to dry it and shrink it some to fit with heat. Since the posts about the first batch running smaller are from 2014 and I didn't see anymore posts about a new batch I wasn't sure whether I was correct in thinking that these sale prices are for those original shirts.

@johnnykicks all of them are from the latest batch - and if anything, they run a touch larger than our standard XL. You're correct - they're prewashed and preshrunk. I'd recommend going with the XL.

We cleared out of the first batch back in 2014, and these were made in an entirely different facility

SOUTHWICK ENDS FOR FRIENDS

Tuesday is going to be absolutely bonkers. The last time that we had a Southwick "factory finds" promo was back in July of 2014. So it's been a long-time coming.

If you're not familiar with the history, then here's the story. From 2012 to 2014, we ran a Southwick promotion two times per year. We'd offer fabrics and allow customers to order any stock size in them. Orders would be open for a week and the prices were generally set at $495/unit. Guys would order jackets, we'd organize everything into a big group buy, and Southwick would deliver in 12-16 weeks. It was a great program and a lot of guys used it to fully build out their tailored wardrobe.

This time around it's going to be a bit different. Our Southwick MTO program was really successful this year, and the factory wants to build upon that. So instead of doing this a group buy promo, they offered it to us as an MTO promo. Which changes things a bit:

1) The items are fully MTO, so you can choose all your details (liner, buttons, pockets) and your sizing (vary length by sleeve, body). Each piece is made individually. In the past, the group buy jackets were all made in one shape, one liner, and with one set of buttons. You couldn't choose otherwise.

2) The production will run through the MTO line, so we're looking at about 4-7 weeks for turnaround. It used to take at least 3 months before. The last round in 2014 took nearly 5 months.

3) We can offer 2-piece and 3-piece suits in addition to just sportcoats. This will allow for a radically increased selection of fabrics too.

The pricing is going to be a bit higher than before, but I think that you'll still find it to be an excellent value. I'll hash it out with them and give you an idea by the end of the week.

In terms of scheduling, we're going to be out there on Monday morning. We'll spend all of that day cataloging and shooting the fabrics. We'll start the promo at 11AM on Tuesday. Unlike other EFF promos, we'll concentrate Tuesday on just selling and talking about the fabrics on offer. So you can expect much more engagement from us, as we won't be trying to do a million things at once. We'll look to incorporate some videos and perhaps a form of live chat as well. But definitely photos and video.

And speaking of Monday - we're going to try to hit dinner with some Southwick people in Andover, but that will be on the earlier side. I'll confirm tomorrow, but if any Boston-area guys want to meet up for a drink, we can certainly find a bar for that. Would be great to catch up with you guys!

Just in time! I need a new suit and maybe some sports coat.

I've only owned one pair of Alden's and they were a size 7.5D Barrie last. The only other dress shoes I own are AE 5 last shoes in 8D. Is it safe to assume I'm a 7.5D in the Tru-balance last? Or do I need to size down any further? How do the Barrie and Tru-balance lasts compare?
