@boned thanks so much - I think that you're really going to dig them!

I owe you guys a proper post on the Combat Boots - we'll do a more detailed writeup and show some new photos next week. But it's a really exciting product for us. We sold nearly a dozen pairs of them in our stores this weekend, which is a great number for just in-shop sales. It was very cool to see guys coming in, trying them on, and falling in love with them.

It's a very cool product, and it's pretty distinct from anything that we've done before. The shape is really minimal, it's easy to dress up or down, the price is right, and it's comfortable right out of the box. The zipper is a rad detail and a very useful one. We'll absolutely incorporate more of these into our collection down the road.

I'm actually thinking of making a rad Spring version of this - maybe a polo suede version with brass eyes and a lighter edge trim? Could do a bright brass interior zipper on it too. Actually that sounds really dope!

@hooker4186 should be shipping out before 1/15. The factory reopens tomorrow from their holiday and they're going to start assembling everything pronto.

@loxo haha yeah, that jacket is not taking any prisoners. Supposed to be in the 30's tomorrow, so it's going to come in handy very soon.

It is one of my favorite wardrobe articles. When the brown cafe racer came last year, I wanted one badly, but just didn't need another brown jacket and was still missing my perfect black. I asked @Epaulet if they could possibly have a black one made. I finally received it a few days ago and couldn't be happier. The leather and construction quality is miles above anything else I've seen, and the fit is perfect. At some point, I guess Mike decided to order a small stock of them. I'm telling you, if you have any desire for a black cafe racer, you will be kicking yourself when these are gone. It is very close to a perfect jacket. On a quick vacation to Florida so I just have this crappy hotel pic, but here it is after a walk in the rain today.

Thanks for the writeup Steve, I'm thrilled that you're so pleased with the jacket! It's a perfect fit on you.

Will be forever lusting after an EP alt wein.

Mike, can Alden do an #8 colored Chromexcel for a future run of innsbrucks?

@El Argentino good question, have you seen Alden run that color before? They only use certain colors of CXL in their program. If you've seen it from another vendor, then we should be able to. I definitely want to offer a run in that grained country calf - like the "Edmund" Indy.

I am fairly certain I have seen Alden do Color 8 CXL on some PCT boots.

I may be mistaken.

We may need to ask the Mayor of Aldenville @mdubs

Ha. I'm pretty sure that I have never seen Alden do a Color 8 CXL before... Their Brown CXL frequently has burgundy undertones to it.

@mdubs yeah, I haven't seen it before either. And it's hard to nail down the Color 8 CXL color, I feel like I've seen a huge variation from one batch to the next.

That said, we could certainly do some kind of oxblood calfskin version of the Alt Wien. I can also check with Alden to see if they have some other options for an oxblood/bordeaux tone.

A reddish tone could be great. I gravitated towards the idea of CXL because of my own experience with it, ease of upkeep, and the previous Alt Wein iterations having used it before, but you guys know better than I.

Oh I LOVE CXL. I love Couro Cromo too - thick chrome-tanned leather is phenomenal.

We're just a bit limited in colors on that, as I believe that all that Alden offers is Brown, Natural, Navy, and Black.

That said, anyone open for Black CXL Alt Wien? Could be pretty fresh if we keep the brass eyes.

Rancourt offers what they call Color 8 in Horween CXL: http://www.rancourtandcompany.com/men-s/loafers/penny-loafers/pinch-penny-loafers.html

Third color choice in the menu.

May not be what people have in mind though.

You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.

My preference, though, would be for a more tonal zipper. Brass eyes would be cool, but I'd worry it might be too much on the zipper.
