There's an event going on next Friday and Saturday for the Vass MTO launch. If you purchase a pair of Vass MTO footwear, you'll get 15% off any other items bought at the same time (including sale merchandise but excluding other non-Vass MTO goods).

Sure thing. This Friday and Saturday we're going to hold a Vass MTO event in our Manhattan stores. Any local guys can come in to the store, get fitted, and see both our Fall selection and a range of samples. We'll have a VASS rep on hand to help guide you along. All the details are below.

The 15% discount works as such. When you place a VASS MTO during those two days, you can add anything else onto the order at 15% off - excluding another Vass or Carmina MTO shoe. Anything else is fair game, and there's no limit. So if you were thinking of both a Vass MTO and a bigger ticket Epaulet purchase, then this is a great chance to save some dough!

Guys at the Manhattan store will work with our team there. For anyone elsewhere, I'll post swatches and photos online, and I'll personally be on hand to take your order over the phone.

Handmade in Budapest, VASS creates some of the finest shoes available anywhere. Epaulet is one of a select handful of stockists in the United States, and we're thrilled to announce our very first Made to Order event with them.

The event will be held at our Manhattan store on Friday October 11th and Saturday October 12th. We'll have our Fall shoe delivery by that time and a selection of samples, so you'll be able to see a range of lasts and sizes. Leather and suede swatches will be on hand as well. Our staff and a VASS representative will be there to guide you into the perfect pair.

And as a special incentive, if you purchase a pair of VASS MTO shoes during this event, you may take 15% off any other items bought at the same time (which includes sale merchandise but does not include special order/made to order merchandise). If you cannot make it to our store, then no worries, we can take your order over the phone and the discount on any other merchandise purchased will still apply.

Just got my Cashmere Goldenrod Napoli Sports Coat. Holy %$#@ this thing is awesome....

I am looking at getting my first sport coat. I am 6'2 and 210lbs and wear a size 42. The consensus seems to be navy, and the fabric seems to be hopsack. Which is a better first and only sport coat choice? Caine hopsack or Napoli hopsack.

I think only you can decide. Many like the soft shoulder, but it is not for everyone. The unstructured cut of the Napoli makes it a little more casual, but it still works on dressier occasions. I have one, and I like the smoke MOP buttons and the patch pockets. I think these make it more of a blazer. But as has been pointed out, the real issue might be what fits you best. If you didn't feel sure that you had a good fit with the Napoli it might be better to go with the Caine. It is also a great choice.

Yes, all of the swatches and shoes will physically be only at the Manhattan store next weekend. They'll make it to Brooklyn the week after. We'll see where stock stands before we send any West - we're pretty limited in inventory on all the styles.

But we'll scan the swatches and shoot them outdoors, so I'll be able to guide you through everything on the phone. Or you're more than welcome to come by and place your order in the shop in person. There's free whiskey in it for anyone who does that!

We sell both shapes equally. The fit is very dependent upon your shoulders. Generally the Caine/Weller works for nearly every guy. The shoulder has a natural degree of padding and it can work on guys with broader shoulders or more narrow ones. I've rarely heard a complaint of the shoulders being too strong.

That said, the Napoli works best on guys with the shoulders to fill it out. You don't have to be Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, but if you have narrow or very slim shoulders then it can look a little baggy there. That's really the case with any unstructured coat. But if you send a photo of yourself we can usually identify if the Napoli fit is going to be problematic. It isn't an issue for most people.

Surcharge is 25%, and the lead time is generally 8-12 weeks. Come on up, it's going to be fun!
