Cross-post from the Carmina Appreciation thread: Carmina x Epaulet MTO cognac shell PTBs and grey shadow stripe Walts:

Boom! Looking sharp!
Just want to say that the sunwashed chambray fabric you guys got in bulk is absolutely fantastic
thumbs-up.gif
. I really can't wait until your MTO program comes back, that one is an instakop in any and all colors.
Thanks, and glad that you dig it! We're definitely working on that MTO program returning for Fall.
Mike, do you have a restock of the Faulkner/Steinbeck planned for the fall? I'd need a special-order size smaller than you stock, but I'm definitely interested in a CXL/Dainite rainy fall-winter Seattle shoe.
Put me down for a size 7 Faulkner in natural CXL with dainite sole. I loved the shoe when I tried it on but the 7 1/2 you had in stock just didn't work for me.
Yes, we're definitely going to restock the Steinbeck boot in Brown Chromexcel - although I'll probably use the Commando sole for this go-around. And we're going to bring back the Faulkner, but that will probably just come in Brown Chrome, not Natural. I don't think that we'll be able to offer anything in Natural from Carmina this season. Both of you guys are in our size range, so you'll have a lot to choose from.
Mike, any road show planned for Los Angeles? Needing sizing for your sports coat..
Yes sir, we'll definitely be in Los Angeles! Details to come.
Just got my package, chocolate ripstop. The patterns are visible only up close, take two step away and the pattern is gone. Its sporty and proper, one where I would wear from the beach to divorce court.
Rock and roll - I'm glad to hear that you like it. Chocolate has actually been our best selling color - by a huge margin - and it's great to see. The color is even and the chinos make up beautifully. Thanks for picking them up!
Hmm... called twice and emailed once to no avail. Anyone know when the brown houndstooth Slim Walts are getting restocked? Thx!
I don't believe so, but we probably have enough cloth left to cut 2 or 3 special orders. You can email us at contact[at]epauletnewyork.com if you'd like to order a pair. Would take about 4-6 weeks to get to you, normal price.
Wow!!! Awesome suit + shoes.
Agreed. Wisith, that's one of your best!
Any new drops this week? On an EP binge and I need my fix
Yup. So far we're working on: Rivet Chino Cone Mills Selvedge Denim White & Blue Pinpoint Oxford Dress Shirts with Point Collar A new cotton pique LBM 1911 jacket A smattering of new Carmina MTO Project styles And we'll see if some additional product comes in on top of that tomorrow or Thursday.
Was in the shop on sunday and tried on the new jeans - blue. Awesome fit. will pull the trigger soon!
Thanks for dropping by!
Think you gave up too soon on the ducks. I believe, as others do, that they are a better warm weather weave pant than the others....
Duck Canvas is great for the Summertime (although the 8oz canvas is very good too, and you'll probably get more wear out of the Clay color). The white made up particularly starchy and it seems very rough and thick. It really isn't, it's just raw and unwashed. For all you guys who ordered the washed Duck Canvas Smith Jeans - you're going to be amazed at how light and comfortable they are.
Normally, when I buy shorts, I always have them tapered. About a week ago, I noticed how slim fitting the Rivets duck canvas are and so I took one of my duck rivets and turned it into a short. Surprisingly, it turned out great as I like my shorts slim fitting and I can be specific about length. I'm going to try it with one of my cotton walts that doesn't get as much use as I would like. I also thought about turning my leaf duck canvas rivets into a nice pair of shorts, but have a hard time since I enjoy wearing it as trousers too. Perhaps I need to get a 2nd pair of leaf rivets and turn the old one into shorts! But yes, duck canvas makes for great shorts!
Thanks guys. Interesting idea to turn them into shorts Rob...I'd be curious to see how this would look. As you say, the duck canvas would be the perfect material.
Cool! Three things I can add to this: 1) We're going to do a small restock of Walt shorts (Grey Canvas, Woodland Digicam, and a Khaki Poplin). Should be here by the end of the month. 2) If anyone wants to special order a short in any trouser fabric that we still have in stock, we can do that. It costs $10 less than the pant. We've probably made about two dozen of them so far. I apologize that our in-stock shorts assortment is so limited. They're a weird item - they either sell or they sit around forever, so I play it safe. But I love wearing shorts and wear them almost daily when the weather heats up, so I'm always happy to make your shorts dreams come true. You can do it in Navy Duck, Caramel Duck, Leaf, Grey 120s, Hopsack, Navy Linen, Red Linen, Orange linen, Ticking Stripe, etc... By default we make the shorts with our standard 9" inseam, but we do have a 7" pattern too which has more room in the thighs. And let me take this opportunity to tell you HOW GOOD the Grey and Navy Hopsack makes up as a short. Especially the Grey. I made a pair and they are my favorite shorts of all time, hands down. I'll see if I can shoot some pics tomorrow. They're comfortable to wear casually, or you can do the whole hardcore Summer dandy style with the navy sportcoat, white shirt, white bucks and no socks. 3) I have to caution you guys on making shorts out of trousers. When you cut them off, you'll notice that the leg becomes effectively tapered and significantly slimmer than before. This becomes more pronounced the higher your inseam. When we design shorts, the thighs have extra room built into the pattern to compensate for that. If your Rivets/Walts fit you close on the thighs, then you'll probably want to keep the inseam at 9 or 10" minimum. That will hit right above the knee for most guys. And be prepared for a fairly close fit at the leg opening. If you have fairly slim legs and the pants aren't tight on you, then you don't have to worry about it. But if you want a really short inseam (5 or 6"), then you would need to have straight-up skinny legs for it not to fit you too tightly on the thighs.

+1, I have cut other incotex chinos into shorts when I started the experiment, and at first I went too short on the inseam...def have them cut longer than you might normally...worst case you can always rill a cuff on them.

Got the white duck chinos. Great fit. Unfortunately they're really thick (duh). I got them not realizing how thick they really were. My girlfriend dared me to wear them while walking the dogs.. didn't even wanted to try, they went right back in the bag and to the post office. It's already 100f+ here so I can't wear those. Exchanged for the clay chinos. Hope those aren't near as heavy.

And thank you Adele for being so quick on the customer service.

I find the duck canvas to wear cooler than the 8 oz canvas as well. However, I think the 7 oz canvas is the best for hot weather.

I'll keep an eye out for the 7oz. Are they at least softer? I was not a fan of the texture. Worse than jeans.

^ the 7oz are noticeably much softer than the 10oz right out of the box. It sounds like that's the feel you're after - give the 7oz a try.

How about the 8oz vs duck (which is 10oz?) In your opinion? I'm sticking with clay regardless. The color can play well in winter and spring here. Summer, I'm damn near in board shorts all day after work anyways, playing ball. But its nice to have the option.

I'm in Toronto and it takes about 2 weeks.

Ordered my trousers on May 21, and they've been with customs since May 30. I've never experience anything like that, and I've ordered lots of stuff from the US. I really hope they'll be fast, as I'm moving to another country next week. Is this normal for Epaulet?

Rreealllyyy...

Don't make me regret it just yet. Though they do have 33's in white, which are my size, I can wait. the clay is a better color in my mind anyways.

But for final reference.. in order of breathability in 100f+ weather..

Duck Canvas (10oz)
7oz
8oz

Seems so backwards that the Duck is up top but if you guys say so, your'e the experts. I'll be willing to give them a try later on in life, I was just not a fan of the texture.

The 10oz are very breathable, but if you're not a fan of the texture than you will like the 7oz much better. They feel much lighter and softer and also wear very well in warm weather.

Upon reading earlier that there are only a couple special orders worth of brown houndstooth left, I had to make sure I got my Rudy order in today :) At this point now I have 3 Rudys and 3 Rivets that should be mine within the next 4-6 weeks.
