Mike,
Anything you'd recommend from the current Carmina or Alden line up for the Pac NW? I just moved to Portland, and the rains ... they get to me. :)

Are those the Staple Design x Epaulet chinos? Green or gray? They're not too difficult to style, IMHO.
yes, thats what they are. Green, but I'm a style newbie. I think I'm just thrown off by the texture of the material.

Mike/EP Team,

I have a request if possible. I do most of my shopping via mobile (iPad & iPhone). Is there any way you could add a filter to search by? For instance, if I want to see all stock of 34 waist? Right now I have to click into each pair to see if my size is available. It would be great to just be able to pick a size and see everything in stock at once. Its not a huge deal but just thought I would mention it as it would be a great enhancement.

That's a great suggestion, and something we've been working on for a bit. Getting the ability to sort by size would be huge across the board, but it's a pretty big undertaking with programming. We're looking to rollout new functionality for the Fall though, and that's definitely part of it.

Mike, thanks for the response on the Greeleys, that's very helpful. It is my first Bal boot.

My pleasure, and feel free to drop us a line if you need any more help with them, we definitely want you to be happy with them.

And the chinos are looking good!

Has anyone else found that Carmina shell tends to spot really easily in the rain?

Horween shell spots pretty easily regardless who makes it. Renovateur is fantastic for zapping that out, but I usually try to avoid wearing my shell shoes in the rain altogether if I can. Recent weather in NYC sure as hell hasn't made that easy though.

I too am sad to see the custom shirts on hiatus because my new medium with extra long sleeves and length is a breath of fresh air to most shirts. Long enough shirts stay tucked so much better! Will save up for some shirts when the program returns.

Here's a whole lot of epaulet -- FF green windowpane coat, custom black gingham shirt, and light grey cargo trousers. Carmina double monks.

That looks sharp

Hey guys, I picked up this pair of Rivets a couple weeks ago and I'm unsure of how to wear them. The fabric seems a bit more than casual but the design itself is pretty casual with the D-ring and the cut. I haven't seen much of these online, so there's not much I can glean from them. Anyone have any advice?

Ah, the infamous Staple chinos - good pick up!

They're definitely a casual style. The fabric is a felted cotton that's machine washable. I like those with brown shoes or boots - or simple white sneakers. For shirts you could match it to white, grey, tan, or light blue (like an OCBD).

I hear you, we're getting a solid dose of Portland rain here too!

I love Chromexcel for rainy days. It's a tough, water-resistant leather. Our Carmina Alt Wien in Brown Chromexcel is a great style if we have your size in that. The Caramel Alt Wien is in a "natur calf" which has some finish applied to it and it also pretty good in the Rain. The Thompson in pebble grain and the Faulkner in Natural Chromexcel are great too. And all of them have rubber combo soles for grip.

From Alden, the Natural CXL Longwing and the new Brown CXL plaintoes are both solid choices. They have leather soles, but they're oiled and have a good degree of water resistance.

I have the Alden LWB in Natural CXL and I love them. They work well in the rain here (I'm in Portland, too) and brush out well.

I would also definitely recommend something w/ a commando sole. For the winter here, there's really nothing that compares. Alden has some make ups of course and perhaps Mike and Co. will have some in the fall (Natty CXL Indy boot w/ commando sole is pretty dope) but there are other suitable options (Redwing Beckman, etc, etc).

Sorry to hear that. Hope you get to visit us here in the US sooner rather than later. We're mostly pretty nice...

Ah really? That's terrible. Our customs and immigrations setup here is a freaking disaster. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm also sorry to everyone from abroad who ends sitting at JFK for three freaking hours waiting to get fingerprinted. Unfortunately, they never quite put this stuff up to a vote.
Thanks for the support guys

I'm not complaining, a bit bummed but trying to accept this as the current status quo. To give a bit more context, we were a development team of 5 going to Santa Barbara to work with our customer's development team for a couple months. We of course had invitation letters and full sets of documents. The embassy even fulfilled an emergency request from our customer so that we could apply in May instead of July (which would be a normal scenario for someone applying from our country). But we got 2 refusals out of 5. Coincidentally, all of the guys who were accepted, are also married (some with kids) and a bit more senior than the unlucky ones

On the brighter side, I'm still young and I got to visit Moscow at the expense of the company

And to excuse the digression, a bonus Epaulet x Kremlin pic:

Also, forgot to post about a recent trip to Lviv. It's a charming town in the western Ukraine, the region that is historically opposed to Russians. We loved it, it looks like a cosy European town with just the right amount of urban grandeur. Spoilering most of the pics, and my apologies for the long post (and by the way, these are some of my first EP items, still wearing them like crazy)

And a statue of Leopold von Sacher-Masoch (that's what you see when you peep into a hole in his chest)

Ironically, that's the thing I failed to prove - that I'm NOT immigrating, only visiting for mere weeks..
Ok enough derailing I suppose

прыгожыя фатаграфіі (I hope google translate was correct - beautiful photos :)

Lviv (Lwów in Polish) was a Polish city till WW2. It had been one of the major centres of Polish culture and Poles made up for about half of its population; around 30% inhabitants had been Jewish. Most Jews and many Poles (particularly inteligentsia) were murdered after Germans entered the city, and the bulk of the Polish population that still remained in Lviv as the war was nearing its end was resettled by Russians.

I think it's really great that you uploaded these; our American acquaintances (difficult word...) know well London, Rome, Paris or Vienna, but haven't heard as much about Eastern Europe - and Lviv for example. Thanks.

How do the Gitman's fit in regards to the Epaulet shirts? I wear an L in the Epaulet line but have the darts removed...should I go with an L in Gitman or a Medium? Sadly, the horizontal looks like it's OOS in medium...

Thanks!
