IME, they do indeed shrink about 1/2" in length, and perhaps 1/4" overall in the waist/seat, but that much is so minimal as to not cause an issue--but I highly recommend washing them once before any tailoring. I made the mistake of forgetting to do this once w/ some regiment twill Walts and it was a bummer.

I've found the different materials of rivets have a significant impact on waist and seat. All my rivets are 33. All only ever washed in cold and hung to dry.

My heavy weight rivets are tight in the waist and seat, some that I can barely button them or tuck in a dress shirt. My light weight ones fit comfortably in waist and seat and are loose enough that they'll slip a bit without a belt. Not sure if anyone has experienced similar.

I'm debating ordering 2s from now on (33 and 34) and keeping the better fit. Just did that for a pair if Walts that are enroute.

Also planning a trip to NYC in the coming months to try on all the various sizes to lock it down for future orders as Epaulet has become my go-to for pretty much everything :D

It's funny you should say this, because I've had the exact opposite experience. It's my lighter weight rivets that are tighter in the thigh and seat. For the record, all of my rivets are size 34 and I now have 4 pair. They've all been washed in cold and hung to dry, as well.

The brushed heavyweight taupe and the desert duck both fit wider in the seat and the thigh. The brushed graphite and distressed mint are both noticeably (but not uncomfortably) tighter in both areas.

I am still looking at this scottish silk tweed SC. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has been tempted or has committed. I'm just trying to figure out the specs. I think I want the regular SB structure, with 3/8 lining, 3 roll 2. Welt breast pocket, patch hip pockets with flaps. But the buttons? I'm really not sure. Light horn? Dark horn? I just thought I'd ask if anyone else has been struggling with these problems.

Tried creeping this thread for the answer, but didn't see it. What's the lapel size on the sportscoats? My guess would be 3 inches based on the photos. Considering the MTO option for my size (44L) in something along the lines of the Napoli Unstructured with a couple modifications, but knowing details like this would be helpful.

^ the lapels on a 44L should be 3 inches. That was the size of the first SC I got a few years ago, and I just measured my lapels to be 3 inches exactly. They will most likely be slightly slimmer on a smaller size SC.

I'm struggling accepting the fact I'll have to pass up on this jacket :embar:

but if it were me, the choices would be between light horn or blonde horn (I think this has the possibility to look unreal). Simply because I think the light horn manages to pickup a lot of the colors in the fabric and the blonde horn manages to channel the kind of goldenrod flecks.

but in other news, order two, one in my size and we can compare notes .

Good problems to have.

My opinion: White MOP buttons, Napoli construction (3/8 lined). I have an unlined silk/linen SC that I put white MOP buttons on last summer and have not looked back (although that one is navy-er).

Could go anywhere here really.

Darker horn would stand out and as mentioned before the lighter horn pick up lots of the colors...
