So, Adele and I are celebrating our one-year wedding anniversary and we popped out of the city for a few days with our coterie of dogs.

I rented a house in East Hampton which looks like the home in Beetlejuice (following the renovation) and a Miami plastic surgery office from 1989 had a child. It's pretty insane. These places cost a ton to rent in the Summer, but things get REAL cheap after September. It makes for a relaxing getaway.

Anyway, here's a shot of the house:

This place looks RAD; sort of like an east coast version of a Palm Springs weekend getaway place.

Congratulations to both you guys on your anniversary!

Question for the Epaulet crew... the Merino Spruce Marl sweater indicates hand wash or dry clean. I want to confirm that there will be no shrinking if I hand wash in cold water. I have had a couple of sweaters from other brands shrink in water even when the tag indicated gentle wash in cold water was OK.
And congratulations to Mike and Adele on your first year of marriage. May it keep getting better.

Fine merino knits actually do tend to contract a little when you wash them, but that's different than shrinkage (temporary vs. permanent). It's typical, in my experience, to have them tighten up on you and then stretch back out to the normal size after a wear or two. When it's wet, be careful not to stretch it out before it dries, though, and dry it flat. You should be A-OK.

Yeah, even temporary contraction is not something I want. I don't want to have to stretch it back out by wearing it. Maybe dry-cleaning is my best bet.

Got my Factory Finds dove linen Walts in the mail today. Thanks, you guys! The linen trousers are dry clean only, correct? I may actually need to have them let out a bit -- they seem to fit a shade tighter than my wool Walts.

i just machine washed my wheat linens... but somehow i think that should be ok. i have linen sheets and those can go in the washing machine.

that pocket knife looks awesome. I will definitely check it out. the damascus finish is nice.

If that's the case, then if you hand wash it you'll want to shape it a bit when it's wet. Or dry clean -- but only with someone who you know will do a great job. I think Mike has lots of opinions about fabric care -- he or Matt probably know most about this particular wool.

Ok, so I do not wear jackets normally, so I do not know how to judge fit that well. I have done some research but would like others' opinions. My tailor says that she would not change anything, but I would like this to fit perfectly. So even if you have a subtle suggestion, I am all ears... I just threw it on with what I had on today. I do know that the neck of my shirt is a touch big, but I am only concerned with the jacket.

It is a 38 weller navy 120, I was given a few suggestions on which size to purchase, and I appreciate the advice. My tailor did say that moving up to a 40 would be too big in the shoulders.

And thank you, I know my sink and soap dispenser are lovely. ;)

^^ are those Redwings? ^^ Model?

Not sure what the model is. You can find it on J. Crew's site. It's the model that's the cheapest at around $220.

Thanks for the comments. They are much appreciated! It is pretty exciting not to have to get anything alters on it.
