Mike-

Could you give us a quick run down of the 8 Walt/Rudy/Driggs MTO options? Looking back through the thread here is what I have picked up

Currently Online:

Seersucker & Pincord
Solid Cotton Twills (could you add the weights for the twills)

To come:

Khyber Cloth (the Petrol Blue twill fabric)
Linens
English Drill (the current stock Driggs fabric...but raw/unwashed)
Duck/UK sanded canvas
Wools
In about 6 weeks the Galey & Lord Military twill

Mike,

how would you compare the walnut japan garment die #1761 versus the petrol in the recent FF? I am thinking 1761 is more grey but also looks pretty blue in the first shot. Thanks!

Thanks, have sent an email through to contact[at]epauletnewyork.com!

PS. How do I view the Factory Finds Rivet Chinos mentioned in the last few pages?

We're pretty jazzed about this....

Around the 3rd week of April we're going to release our crewneck (pictured) and the new hoodie in natural indigo-dyed 10oz French terry.

The color is really boss. It will wash out of the cloth naturally - just like a jean. We're doing a dye test right now to see if we can take some of the pieces and overdye them black. We MAY be able too, but this may be hard to do if the knit yarns already soaked up their maximum with the first dye bath. If we can't make a true black one, then we'll go in the opposite direction and run it through several enzyme washes to release a medium-wash variant. I think that you guys will really dig this!

Oh, and I'm wearing the infamous 5" inseam shorts here. Available for special order to anyone who wants a pair icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Oh yes!  Will you shoot me a PM or email re the 5" shorts?  5" FTW!!  :slayer:

I hope the overdye black will work but if not I will go with the indigo dyed anyway. :)

Hi Mike - What is the difference between the Galey & Lord Military Twill and the FF Steep Twill?  Trying to decide between the two.  Is one better for spring/summer or year round use?

Thanks in advance!

Galey & Lord Military Twill is a true year-round fabric. It's that typical "khaki" pant weight, but in a softer, higher quality yarn.

Steep Twill is definitely thicker and meant for cooler temps. Depending where you live, you could wear it well into the Spring season, but I imagine that many guys would put this away around May and take it out again in September. It's not totally seasonal for when we're presenting it, it's just that this fabric is typically very expensive - especially with the wash and dye effects on it - and we were offered a great price to present it as Factory Finds. If any of you guys have ever handled one of the thicker Incotex pants, then this is about what that fabric feels like.

Galey & Lord is a better choice for buy now/wear now. You can wear them comfortably all year. We're selling them really well - especially in the stores. You won't be disappointed when you see it in person.

Sure thing! I'll measure out a pair and send you the specs. We've done special orders in the past. It's called the "Mike Short"

I'll put up the details for anyone else who's interested. I once gave an interview where I said...

"Shorter shorts for men are like a middle finger to boring people"

It's very true. I love them.

Color-wise they're in the same family. Slate 1761 is darker, more subdued, and more grey. Petrol Steep Twill FF has a punchier color and a subtle two-tone effect due to the raised twill fibers.

Yarn-wise they're totally different. The Japan Garment Dye is an 8oz fabric and soft and light as hell. Definitely a Spring/Summer piece. Steep Twill is thick and tough.

Ah, my apologies, let me put that in right now.

Olive Khaki is a basic that's going to be around all year long. And even if we sold through that, there's always something close to it.

Japan Garment dye is pretty limited - we can probably make 8-10 units each in those fabrics.

Final pant question - I get the Walt trousers in size 34 and get the waist let out by an inch - it gives me a slim fit all around that I like. Based on the measurements, would it be better to get the Rivet Chinos in 36 and to get them taken in I guess half an inch? I'd like to achieve a similar fit...

I'd actually recommend doing a Rivet Chino MTO in size 35. I think that's going to be nicely dialed in for you. It costs a bit more but saves you the waist and inseam tailoring fee, and the MTO delivery window on those is really quick. If you're looking at the Military Twill, then the MTO price on that is $170. I don't have it built yet, but we can take an order on that at any point just over email.
