Dude, post a swatch as soon as you can! What kind of purple hue is it? I'm already amped.

It's cool. The fabric is a pretty thick Scottish tweed - not as thick as Harris but thicker than the Italian Donegal's that we ran last year. The purple tone is pronounced, but it's not overwhelming. As a suit, it's going to be awesome and sophisticated. I promise that you won't look like a pimp in Braveheart.

I'll get some swatches going for you guys next week. Sorting out the next collection of "Factory Finds" for more trousers on Tuesday too!

Mike, the chelsea boots are awesome. I wore them around all day, and they feel incredible on the feet. Referred plenty of people over to your shop when they asked about the shoes.

I'm not one to normally post the "OMG love love love" posts, but had to share this for all the Epaulet freaks on this thread. I was cleaning out my closet a few days ago, and had some thoughts about this crazy hobby.
I discovered Epaulet right around when I started taking dressing seriously a few years ago. I think we've all been through the phase where we were figuring things out, and had a few regrettable purchases as we found our way into this brave new world of buying quality clothing.
I've acquired quite a bit from Mike and Adele, and all of it is excellent. Special make-up Alden's to Carmina's to trousers to chinos to shirts to pocket squares and waxed cotton jackets and various bits and pieces. All of it rocks. I've never found people who stand behind their work so solidly, and who always steer you right. Not only do they make amazing gear, they hire great people. Everyone I've ever met working in the stores knew their **** and always remembered my name and knew just what new stuff I might be interested in.
I'm throwing this post out there so that future clothing freaks can find this in the search engines, you will not go wrong with Epaulet.
There wasn't a single thing I cleaned out of my closet that came from Epaulet. There's a huge list of things I want to get and only wish I had the unlimited funds to do so (every shoe they do ever to start with).
Mike and Adele and team are doing it right. Just keep doing it!

The Luchino Polo by Epaulet

Hey guys!

Looks like you beat me to the punch, but our new Italian polo assortment is online. Thanks to everyone who picked them up so far - I'm really keen to hear your feedback. Here's a few points from me:

1. The fit on these is really solid. It's a nice slim 60's shape that's a bit similar to the Fred Perry made in UK polos. But as detailed in the items, you'll probably want to size down one from your Epaulet shirt size.

2. It's entirely made in Italy with a really gorgeous lightweight cotton pique cloth and smoke mother of pearl buttons. If you've ever felt the "Riviera" polo from Sunspel, then this pique has a similar hand, but ours is a bit softer, less shiny, and a tiny bit thicker. The Sunspel Riviera pique is so light that it can look a bit sheer at times.

3. This is the polo that I've been trying to make for years. It's a really versatile item that can be easily dressed up and looks seriously ace under a sportcoat. We kept the details easy and minimal. Although it's pricier than most polos on the market, you'll see why when you have it in your hands.

4. This pique is really fine. You'll want to be hardcore about washing it in cold water and hang drying it. Definitely keep these out of a machine dryer. And avoid washing them with thick items like towels, washcloths, or hoodies. If the other items in your washer can shed lint or fuzzies, then they'll be attracted to this pique like an electromagnet. Washing it with shirts, pants, tees, underwear, socks, etc is totally fine.

5. The "Infrared" color is bananas. It's boss as hell under a navy jacket. I named it after this Nike Air Max color:


6. Dylan's wearing a Small in the polo. He comfortably wears a medium in our shirts.

Please let me know what you think. We're going to work on a Fall long-sleeve delivery with them and I'm really excited for the future possibilities of expanding this line. Okay, without further ado:

I'm really keen to hear your feedback.

I don't own one, so my feedback is probably of limited value but anyway here goes:

1. As I mentioned earlier, the collar seems a bit small for some reason. Upon thinking about it further, I think it's probably because the cutaway is quite severe. Thus when worn with a few buttons undone, as most people will, the collar is a bit too horizontal - not enough diagonal - creating the impression that its a skinny collar, which is something that I don't like. I love the substantial and high collars on EP stuff. I could just be imagining this though.

2. I think EP stuff is always worth the money but $135 is a lot for a polo. A lot of people in this thread with more $$s than me though!

You know, $135 IS a lot for a polo now that I think about it. But the fact that I ordered one without really thinking about that speaks to how satisfied I've been with Epaulet's stuff I've purchased before. Whether it's shirts, pants, jackets, sweaters, or shoes, I don't think I've ever been disappointed by any Epaulet branded item. Pretty amazing come to think of it. I'm expecting to be very happy with the Epaulet polo unless I ordered the wrong size.

The polos look very promising. I'm interested to hear the opinions on the collars once a few people have the polos in hand. The cut away style is definitely different. I think I'm going to wait for a long sleeve version and then give one a try.

And just out of interest, what are people paying for a good quality polos elsewhere, considering that some are saying these are priced a little high?

Indeed, $135 for a polo is makes them about the same/a little more than BoO polos. I usually take the plunge on EP stuff at full price, but will need to pass on the polos.

I'm also interested in seeing more fit pics on the polo. It seems to me that the cut is a little strange on Dylan, with a strong waist taper that makes it look more like a feminine cut. Interested to see what it'll look like in the wild or even what sizing up two would give.

For those of you who have their Rivets hemmed instead of cuffing them.
How do you determine the correct length you have your tailor hem the Rivets to?

I know one should wear the same shoes one will wear paired with the pants in the future, I did.
Other from that I had no idea and the tailor I went to suggested to hem them so they barely reached the top edge of the soles of the shoes I was wearing.
I think it's the length one traditionally goes for when having dress pants hemmed.
But the Rivets have a slimmer foot width and having tried them on I think the pants are ~3/4 of an inch too long because I do not only have a brake at the front but also at the back of the pants which results in a "stacking" look, which I am not after.
Should I have them hemmed to mid back height of the shoes I am wearing instead of reaching the soles?

Also wondering about this. Epaulet's dimensions for their size S shirts state 19" chest and 17.5" shoulder while for polos has these at 18.5"/16.5", is there that much stretching from wear?
