Looking forward to Epaulet So. California & no more wait time for shipping!

congrats. this is however a budget problem now that i will be able to see things in person and touch them. and then purchase them.

Congrats on the new store, I'll have to make it over there before I graduate and leave California. As for the sales tax, it isn't all bad, an LA location means faster shipping to the west coast.

Congrats on the LA store. Any chance that SF is in the future?

We'll certainly do a grand opening event and invite everyone. And we can host periodic trunks shows and meetups. We'll have a lot of product available for custom ordering and MTO work, and it would be great to give everyone an opportunity to see it in person.

And.... regarding sales tax. With a physical location here in CA, we will have to charge sales tax on both in-store and online purchases. Just having an affiliated business here tips that requirement - Amazon.com had to do it just because of their affiliates here. But that said - I hear ya. We'll put something in place to lessen the impact, I promise smile.gif.

Congrats Mike, Adele and crew, excited about the opportunity to see everything in person and of course to meet you all in person. Much deserved.

Congrats Mike and Adele. It's great to watch your success grow. But please don't add more fabrics - you're killing me as is!

Super news guys...congrats!

And with all this Dodger talk, the irony of Epaulet following in their footsteps hasn't escaped me, just glad you guys will still have a presence here...and I can imagine the great things to come with expansion!

Thanks for all of the kind words guys - we're really excited about it! Santa Monica is a hell of a lot different than Brooklyn, but good thing that I like driving and listening to 93.5 KDAY for "LA's back in the day jams."

There's a chance that I might get sick of driving around with a constant Tupac and Ice Cube playlist, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

We're moving ourselves here in August, but we'll still be fairly bi-coastal. I anticipate spending at least one week per month back in NYC, so you'll definitely still see me there.

The grand opening will be around 8/15 or 8/20. It largely depends on how quickly our incoming orders arrive. I'll give everyone at least a week's notice before we do it. And I'll be out here around 8/2 if anyone wants to catch a drink over here. I hit up a bar/restaurant called "The Misift" last night and it was pretty good.

As far as new MTO requests, there's only one thing I think I've ever asked for (out of the dozens of things I've asked about) that didn't get much traction...MTO jackets with wider lapels! Not sure that moving to LA would change any of that, but I figured it couldn't hurt to bring it up again.

We're bringing on Samuelsohn for the Fall. We developed our own in-house fit with them which is loosely based on a slim Kiton shape. These jackets are going to be rad! They're a touch more relaxed than our Southwick fit and have slightly wider lapels and a slightly lower button stance. Full canvas too. Still very slim and modern overall, just a bit more Italian in the presentation. Our model has a beautifully executed soft shoulder and 3/8 liner. We'll be able to offer a ton of fabrics for MTO, and Samuelsohn has a really fast turnaround (usually 3 weeks or so). This should fit the bill nicely for you, and I think that the shape will work particularly well for your body.

We'll have four jackets available OTR from them. Two pure cashmere's, a very cool speckled tweed, and a water-resistant Loro Piana hopsack. The hopsack is crazy. You can seriously dump a cup of water onto it and it rolls off. And the cashmere is a great value. Canada does not pay duty on imported fabric, but the USA charges around 20% on it. So making a jacket in Canada (no tax on fabric) comes into the USA via NAFTA (no tax on the garment) and delivers a seriously killer value for a very luxe sportcoat. I'm really excited for this line, we're one of the first independent accounts that they've ever developed a custom collaborative piece with.

When does sales tax start officially?

It wouldn't start until we actually open the store in CA. So definitely not before 8/15. I won't even get a sales tax number before the first week of August or so.

Sounds awesome. Interesting to see how the soft shoulder compares to their Southwick Napoli cut.

Two New Factory Find Swatches

Hey guys,

I just want to highlight these - we asked Southwick for solid fabrics, as our factory find assortment is pretty plaid-heavy. We got our hands on two options:

Factory Finds Pearl Grey Napoli Sportcoat

I'm going to let Matt weigh in on the Navy fabric - he made up an entire suit in it. The fabric's awesome and he's probably got a bunch of fit photos.

The Pearl Grey is a nice medium-weight flannel with a great texture. It's a touch lighter than our usual flannel trousers - probably around 10oz, and on par with the flannela trousers that we released last Fall. As an unlined Napoli, it's going to be a really smooth operator.

Now, we CAN make suits out of these on demand - and both of them would make up as excellent suits. I mentioned it a few pages ago, but the matching trousers would be $350. The price is a little nuts compared to the jacket because the trousers need to be individually cut (and carry a hefty MTO fee) while the jackets are cut as an off-price group. That said, you'll still get a fantastic suit for $825 and you can specify your trouser waist and inseam.

If you're interested in doing a suit out of these or any other Factory Find fabrics, then just:
1) Order TWO jackets in the same fabric. This will block out the needed cloth for the suit
2) Email us with your order number, waist size and inseam
3) We'll then immediately refund you $125 (the difference in trouser and jacket cost) and put your order in

Congrats on the business expansion.  I am looking forward to the Samuelsohn line!!

I want some advices from you guys. I want to take advantage of the FF offer and add a solid color sportcoat. I have a navy already so I am looking at the Pearl Grey Napoli. Do you guys think this is a good versatile addition? I am mostly going to wear it with dark color wool trousers. Maybe it will work with more casual pants too?
