terrible advice. the shoulders are the single most important measurement of a sportcoat/suit jacket. it's very easy to let out the chest of a jacket. it's even easier to take in the chest of the jacket. it's near impossible to perfectly modify the shoulder structure of a jacket.

No, that completely misses his point.

you really think i'm advocating that?  just saying, quit worrying, go by the recommendation and don't fret b/c the measurements don't line up perfectly 

thanks dudes. this one came together well. I like dressing for the cold. Seeing SVB's post about WAYWT, maybe i should try to start posting in there. Can always use some help. I am definitely not next level, heh. wj4, yeah my physical presence is in LA, but my heart is elsewhere. In another/future life I am an entrepreneur and raconteur living life in NY.

 

 

We measure both the shirts and jackets across the front (flat against the collar or lapels, respectively). The shirts measure a touch bigger than jackets in a comparable size. But, obviously, shirts and jackets will fit differently. 

 

Our sizing equation is a general rule, but not a hard and fast one. It, like shoe sizing equations, works for most. If you have an Epaulet/Ashland/Navy Label shirt, you can compare the size charts and most likely figure out what will work. If not, measure out a jacket you own and compare.

I feel I'm best suited to be a flâneur, but life doesn't seem to permit it.

I'll chime in and say that I liked both this fit and the photo of it quite a bit. Stylish without being at all self-consciously so. You look like you are enjoying yourself.

flâneur. love it. that's exactly what i was doing and what i'm good at. time to start a society. gotta pay the bills somehow though, right?

Question for the folks at Epaulet: will there be more factory find jackets in the future? If so, how often do you plan on putting them up?

thanks. jacket was a vintage fallan and harvey i picked up on etsy for a good price.

you should have seen me and mike that night. he was wearing a baller kiton jacket that had more than a passing similarity to mine in pattern. we looked a bit twinsy when we went out. good thing I wasn't wearing the grape herringbone that day, since Mike was wearing those and I only had brought a few pairs of trousers.

^ those cranberry Walts are so rad. I love how they almost look like a standard charcoal trouser from a distance, but you can see the killer pattern up close.

That looks like a great fit on the shoes as well judging by the lack of creasing. I'm wearing my brown Carmina double monks today as well
