Epaulet x Alden chromexcel longwings were my first expensive pair of shoes. Those were then followed by cigar longwings and, more recently, Epaulet x Alden natural Indy. I'm also receiving navy suede longwings from Leffot soon (fell in love with them at once when I saw Rob's pics in this thread last year). This is absolutely not a big collection by local standards, but it's certainly a huge amount to spend for me personally. However, I haven't regretted it once. And it all began with an Epaulet makeup 

 

Also, Mike, thanks for keeping me warm this winter (no homo). Those heavyweight twill chinos have been doing their job perfectly. I also took your advice and got me a pair of waterproof bean boots with Obenauf's. Add some Smartwool socks to the equation, and this is officially my most comfy and warm winter of all 

Just wondering - any thought to carrying some Walts in a light tan wool? Something like the HY ones here? I love the fabric but the Walts fit me a lot better.

so as many of you know, I recently got married. The suit I wore was a custom order Epaulet double-breasted in a killer charcoal flannel fabric that Mike picked out. It turned out really really awesome. I had them add a ticket pocket and smoked mother of pearl buttons, but otherwise, this is the standard "Barrett" model. The lapel width works really well on my size 34 jacket, better than on the larger sizes, I think.

 

our photographer submitted us to this wedding blog called Rock n Roll Bride, which is apparently a pretty highly-trafficked blog in the wedding blog subculture. we got accepted, so here is the post with a bunch of photos if you guys want to see how the suit came out. also, my best man wore the no-longer-available Desmond jacket and still-available-by-custom-order Rudy trousers in Cadet Grey which you can see in a couple of the shots (his is the lightest of all of the suits).

and she put a link to Epaulet under "supporting cast" at the bottom of the page, so hopefully some other brides-to-be will see it and send their guys to Epaulet. Ties were all from SF affiliate Kent Wang (and were all slightly different check patterns, but unfortunately no detail shots in this batch).

See, you jest, but I had these exact thoughts!

Sat down with Carmina to work out a dark grape colored calfskin. It will be supplied from the same tannery as the Midnight calf we ran in the Rand and Steinbeck. They put together a sample, and ggggoooooddd loorrdd.

I was thinking of pitching a two-tone bal boot for the Fall. Could be purple calf and purple suede. Purple calf and brown suede. It would be illegally dandy! I should have photos shortly.

The medium looks good on you in the body. WIth OTR dress shirts it's tough - the collar with either fit or not. But the body looks great, so if you stick to styles that you like with an open collar, that should be right on.

The shoes look awesome! Thanks for picking them up and glad that you're enjoying them.

Not on the immediate horizon, but we will bring in more Saddle Fitzgeralds (the shortwing shoe version, same last)

Carmina and Alden are a lot of people's first foray into better footwear. I wish that someone had clued me into it when I was a younger guy. Believe me, I absolutely brutalized my feet with shoes from Aldo, Johnston & Murphy, and Florsheim. The price of properly made shoes seems shocking at first to most people (including me), but it's really a worthwhile investment. Good shoes look better, last radically longer, age well, conform to your feet, and offer much more comfort. Once you take that step, there's no going back.

Mike: DUDEEEE. I am pumped up for the purple boots! I think purple with brown may be more workable. The two tone purple may be too eccentric for most, but I like both ideas. I do wish the last would be a sleek last though, like the Rain.

Also, I know I sound like a broken record already, but when do you plan on putting the pre order for the navy pythons up?
