^ They are going to fit very similarly. I have noticed my wool Walts fit a touch slimmer than my Regiments in the same tagged size, but I only have one wool pair, in the flannel which is a heavier fabric, so that might influence it.

There are members here w/ dozens of pairs, so I'll let them have the last word...

Also, while we're on topic of walt sizing, do more people actually size up from their chino size, compared to those who take the same size?

No, I take a 29 in the chinos and a 28 in the walts.
 

I guess that it depends on your shape, but rivets sit at a lower and wider point on me. If I were to size up, it would be up one size in rivets.

They all fit about the same. Any variation seems mostly due to the fact that Walts are all hand cut. Thicker fabrics make up a tad larger than thinner ones, but the difference in my experience is in millimeters, not inches or anything.

The red, blue and cream tartan feels thicker and warmer to me.

 

I wear a 30 in both.

Trip to Greenwood (1 of 5 this week), 10oz Rivet Ducks...and a NEW VEST! My Schott from last year was exactly that, schott.

i just got my navy steep twill walt's. they seem to fit much looser in the thigh than any of my other walts...

 

 

I always thought they were pretty durable. Do you put a lot of wear on them? A year seems like a pretty short time.

I beat the hell out of that thing...wore it to death, and it was probably a size too small, so every time I put my hand in a pocket the leather would pull a bit to the point where both pockets are coming off, as is a button. It was $25, so I'm not too worried. As long as I can get back each year to the sample sale, this year I bought two, this one, and another with leather trimming.

Same here, 30 in cotton twill as well as wool. Difference in size is negligible.
