My experience is the opposite ironically enough. The fit is dead on. I find the Oxford chinos to be the loosest out of all of them. I take a size 31 in all chinos btw.

Purchased the 8.5 Thorogood Boots last night on the site...Thanks all for the help. I'm hoping they work out and fit.

Hah! I *think* I just got the last size L in this, which I was bummed to miss out on this summer... this random update to the sale/new site is dangerous business.

Scottish Sweaters - Final Delivery for the Season

Hey guys,

Finally climbing out of the Hurricane Sandy / New Site Launch hole and putting up some new product! May I introduce our last delivery of Scottish sweaters for the season. There's some great stuff in here:

Hardie Shawl Collar Cardigan Grey: $395

Epaulet Cashmere V-neck Light Blue Birdseye: $495

OK. So for most of us, our first experience with Cashmere sweaters comes from the likes of the Gap, Uniqlo, J.Crew, etc. As you gaze upon this sweater, just toss all memories of those things behind. This is truly on another level. The cashmere is thick and unbelievably soft. We ordered it with a subtle birdseye pattern too. It's freaking perfect.

Jesse from Put This On broke down the cashmere situation quite nicely on his blog. Quoted from him:

"Here’s the honest truth: as cashmere has gone from an exclusive luxury product to a mass-market luxury product, the quality has suffered tremendously. It’s possible to walk into a J. Crew or even a Costco these days and buy a relatively affordable cashmere sweater, but you’ll get what you pay for. Your “investment” will be useless in all too short a time.

Cashmere is soft because it comes from the hairs on the belly of a goat. They’re exceptionally fine, which makes them exceptionally pleasant to the touch. But here’s the catch: some of these hairs are longer than the others.

As we learned in our video with Luciano Barbera, longer fibers are an essential part of a quality fabric. These days, cashmere’s made with much shorter fibers, by inexpert (or uncaring) weavers in China. This has made a formerly dear fiber affordable, but it’s also made it very difficult to find the good stuff. Even the finest cashmere makers have to fight to get anything worth weaving. Many have given up and decided to coast on their reputations.

This is situation is doubly tricky because low-quality cashmere feels so soft in the store. It may even feel softer than the good stuff, in fact. The reason? Short fibers mean more breakage. Broken fibers fluff out of the fabric, making it soft - think of an angora sweater. It’s the same reason that old t-shirts are softer than new ones.

Broken fibers mean softness, but they also mean stretching, pilling and fuzziness. A sweater, in other words, that starts to look worn out immediately, and wears out quickly."

Epaulet Shetland Cardigan Navy: $215

Our classic Shetland Cardigan in Navy. Classic as can be.

**And actually, is this item REALLY dark on your monitor? Can't tell whether it's just my laptop or not**

Dark as hell, but you can definitely tell it's Navy. B-E-A-UTIFUL!

Can anyone comment on the suitability of the monte carlo jacket as a winter coat?

Is everything on the new site still final sale? I really want the Wakefield, but I'm afraid the 38 is going to be just a touch too small in the shoulders, and I'm not willing to commit without trying it on.

Snagged a pair of the light gray flannel cargo trousers that came up in 34. Stoked. Missed them the first time around.

You'll notice that measurements are missing, some text formatting may be crazy, some navigation links don't work, etc. We'll work to iron much of that out this week before the general soft launch. And three things to note:
1. All merchandise sold through this site is final sale
2. We're still testing the inventory matching. Although the majority of items shown on Shopify are going to be in stock, there's bound to be some mistakes where we don't actually have the piece. We'll let you know ASAP if that happens, and thanks for your understanding.
3. We haven't tested an international order yet. If you try to order from outside of the US and it doesn't work then email me and we'll immediately reserve the item for you and figure out what's wrong with the checkout process.

Quite a few pages back they mentioned that all items sold through this new site would be final sale. I would assume this is just until they transfer all their e-commerce operations to this new site.

That's what I figured. But when I bought from the new site a few days ago, the product page and checkout page had "FINAL SALE" plastered all over, and I'm not seeing it anywhere now.

Nevermind, just needed to read the policy page: "Please note that all sale and discounted items are FINAL SALE. Epaulet cannot accept returns or exchanges on these items."
