you guys have a pic of the Salinger double monk in saddle shell vs caramel calfskin next to each other?

I like the caramel but my size has been sold out. Debating whether I want to spend more on the cordovan which looks a bit duller in the pics.

Both of the new styles are amazing, and as someone living in Seattle, I appreciate the leather/rubber sole. Are there any plans to do a shell wingtip boot with this York sole?

let me guess.....10.5UK? Was giving serious thought to pulling the trigger after reading that 10.5UK would probably work for me....and then they were gone. Probably for the best as I shouldn't spend that kind of money right now...but damn those are good looking!

Yep. Sorry, dude. I was kind of hoping for the same thing to happen to me, as I shouldn't be dropping that much right now, but I couldn't resist. I'll let you know if they don't work out.

Well, congrats on a great pickup, those things look awesome. Post pics when you get them if you can.

Damn, first time I've seen the UK10.5 go like that and it went in both the Faulkner and the Steinbeck.

I know there are plans for different Steinbeck options, will there be other Faulkner leather option?

The differences are:
1. Storm welt & leather/rubber York sole on the Faulkner vs flat welt and leather sole on the Fitzgerald. The Faulkner sole is thicker in both presence and materials.
2. Metal eyes on the Faulkner vs blind eyes on the Fitzgerald
3. Thick Horween Chromexcel on the Faulkner vs Annonay Calfskin on the Fitzgerald.
As a side note, these are GREAT styles for anyone living in a rainy area. Although not waterproof per se, Chromexcel is quite water resistant and the York sole will get you good traction in the rain and resist degrading in lousy weather.

Thanks for the info Mike.

My size is still in stock, and the only thing stopping me is that I've already got a pair of Fitzgerald's in brown calf on the way. But we'll see how my willpower is eight whiskeys from now. devil.gif

Also interested in a future Faulkner (or similar) re-stock, since my size (11UK) has left the building. Looking for a nice foul weather shoe, and the soles and leather on these are just about perfect.

For weather resistance, perhaps even better than CXL would be something in Kudu. And the wordsmith below already hunted down a name for it:

Edit: (I do realize that no actual Kudu are harmed by Horween)

Mike - how light woud you say the special order airforce flannel is?

Is it comparable to the french blue in the duck, or more towards the navy regimental twill?

Thanks.

This made me think of a question I had about Carmina shoe trees. Sometimes I see it listed that an order of Carminas will be shipped with complimentary trees. Is that for most Carminas you offer or just for the special orders that you have to put down a deposit for?

In a related story, I had a dream last night that I returned my 11.5UK black Salinger double monks, and I exchanged them for an 11UK. I tried them on and they were the most perfect fitting shoes I ever wore. Then I woke up and was mad I didn't actually have the shoes. Is it a bad sign I'm actually having dreams about Epaulet gear?

Weird man...but I had an Epaulet dream last night too...the Shetland Trousers were actually these weird corduroy prints in purple and pink, and I had to embarrasingly ask Mike which one was the "cocoa"...so I think I have you beat on the weird dream front.
