I had no idea this thread existed until today, and no idea that Epaulet existed until last week or so. I go to grad school in Ithaca, but I'm down in NYC at my girlfriends place fairly often. Last weekend I was on a mission to find some shoes, and after much searching I discovered the Alden suede longwing on the website and fell instantly in love. I made it out to your store in Brooklyn, but unfortunately you guys didn't have my size. I ended buying a pair of Alden Chromexcel Indy Boots and Alden Tan Chukkas from this great place in Manhattan called Leffot. Anyway, despite not having my size, everyone at Epaulet was super friendly and your clothes kick ass to boot.

Now I'm looking for some shirts.

I'm 6'2" and about 160-165lbs, 30" wasit. The problem is that I have long arms and broad shoulders so I have a horrible time finding button down shirts that actually fit. I want a slim (not super tight fit) cut, can you recommend a style that might work? I like the navy/tartan, and I could have sworn I saw a picture of a black, white, and grape gingham shirt that you posted a month or two ago.

I also noticed that there are some things in the store that you don't have online like sport coats and sunglasses. Will you be adding these, or are the batches too small to justify the hassle?

That grape/black shirt unfortunately won't be going into production. Some son of a bastard usurped the fabric from Mike's supplier, ruining the lives of several SF'ers.

Ack! That sucks, that was a really sweet color combo/pattern.

are you guys getting any kzo backpacks this fall?

Thanks for the comments and the advice, Mike, appreciate it. Just trying to show those tattersal's at their best - I'll try rocking them with a polo now

Ralph Lauren Purple Label. I just sold it yesterday, actually (sad, yes, but the replacement is going to be worth it). The softest, most buttery lamb you'll ever touch - as evidenced by the RRP alone ($3,495!)

Yep - Loake Banks. They're different to the Burford in that they're a wide fitting and have a distressed finish.

Sounds like you'd either be a Small or a Medium in the Epaulet shirts -- probably a medium. They have measurements up on their site. SF members get 14 days to return their clothes, and anything over $50 ships free, so you could just order a few and return the sizes that don't fit. Their shirts, I can tell you from experience, are unbelievable. The fabric, cut, and design are top notch, and cost about half as much as a comparable shirt from a place like Band of Outsiders. They're still not super cheap, but you won't find anything like them anywhere else.

You can find pics of the multi-colored gingham a few pages back. I have that shirt. It is epic.

What sizes (and/or measurements) do you usually wear in other brands?

Ordered the Gitman creme tattersall Tuesday evening, was on my doorstep in Seattle on Friday (free shipping), handwritten note included. Very impressed with the level of service. The shirt looks great with my indigo EPs, by the way. I am genuinely dreading the day the SF collab shirts become available, because I don't see how I'm going to keep myself from buying 2. Or 3. Or 4....

Disregard the dude who said that you are an S or M in epaulet.

I'm 6'3, 190 with a 32'' waist. I have long arms and broad shoulders, like you.

I wear an XL in epaulet shirts, and the fit is pretty spot on.

I think that a M would be too short in the arms for you, which is about the absolute worst quality a shirt can have. Try a large first.

I call them my 'old man pants' - not because they have to be worn in a mature way (as above) though. I'm experimenting with some more casual looks too. Any ideas?

Edit: I forgot to mention - they have been tailored slightly. I've taken the hems down and let out the legs from just above the knee (my calves are beefy and the material was grabbing on them).

Excellent, Doctor. Old man old school pattern indeed with a nice updated fit. I can't wait to start wearing mine. I did get it hemmed, but my regular tailor was busy before the Easter break so one of his assistants took care of me last time and he tailored them with a break, which I don't like on pants with a slim and smaller leg opening so I just need to drop them off again to get that taken care of and then I'll be good to go.

I like Mike's suggestion of making more casual with a polo and I can see some trainers paired with them too. I'll experiment with that myself and maybe get some pics up soon.

Hey Mike, Two questions: Any plans on a restock of the Alden plain toe blucher? Do you ship internationally? New products look awesome, will definitely come check out the store in person at some point.

Yes try a Large, i'm 6'3 and 160lbs. I had the medium flannels from epaulet and they were a bit too snug for me.

Awesome, thanks for the tips guys. Now I just need to pick which color I want! How do you guys wear the Epaulet shirts? I know you can wear them with a more formal outfit, but also wear them dressed down with jeans. I would only wear them dressed down with jeans and boat shoes/indy boots/ chukkas / or even keds. Are they worth the price if you don't plan on doing anything all that special with them? I ask only because I'm a grad student on a budget who must make any and all purchases quite carefully. I'm also the kind who would rather spend $200 on one pair of jeans that are made well and fit perfectly than buy 5 pairs of standard levis...but I'm sure that goes without saying. Bob_gnarly...do you still have a slim/fitted silhouette with the large? I want fitted, just not ridiculously tight.
The shirting length is intentionally not too short nor long so that it can double in casual and formal situations.
