Ok, I've placed the order for my first pair of Aldens, which is gonna be the natural cxl LWB icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I've considered the #8, but for now I like the way natty will fit into my wardrobe a bit more. Also, I would like to delay the shell frenzy as much as possible uhoh.gif

Those longwings will have to travel some thousands miles, but I hope I'll be wearing them on my birthday early june. Yippie ki-yay.

In other news, I wish I could un-know this forum.

I received my order of the red gingham Italia shirt and nailhead Marcello today.

The Italia shirt worked very well. I ordered size M and it seems to be right in between the standard Epaulet size M & L shirts. I am kind of in-between size on standard Epaulet shirts so I think the Italia shirt will be a good fit if shrinkage is minimal.

The Marcello sport coat looks great. I think it is just a tick tight across the fastened button, but it otherwise seem to fit me. I would like to get some opinion on the fit of the Marcello on me though, so it would be great to get some comments on the pictures below. The jacket did come folded up in the box, so there are some wrinkles that may make it look like it's pulling more than it actually is.

^ That fit looks terrific. Like the shirt pairing as well. Sleeves could be shortened half an inch or so. Chest and torso fit look fine to me -- the slight pulling across the button is how slim SCs are supposed to fit. Mine looks similar, as do the fit pics on the web.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the sleeves definitely need to be shortened, but that's pretty standard for me.

Just received a pair of khaki chinos in 31. I returned a size 30 because it was way too tight. However the size 31 feels good on the waist, but definitely a little on the baggier side at the calves. Do they shrink at all?
I agree that the Marcello fits you well. I definitely wouldn't size up. As for the slight pulling at the button, if it really bothers you, that's an easy fix. The sleeves, as noted, need shortening.

what color shirts are you guys rocking with the leaf duck chinos?

btw, got the red gingham italia shirt today. the fit is awesome. the normal epaulet shirts are a bit snug on the chest and i havent lifted weights in 2 months trying to mold myself into them. the extra half inch in the chest is perfect for me. ordering the other 2 italia shirts right now.

I second this question. I was thinking maybe the Koi print that I ordered together with them would work.. I'll see when they arrive. More basic cases, I think it would surely go with grey, and with different ginghams having white as the background, like the navy/brown gingham, or the red/white/blue madras, or the buffalo check

Thanks for posting this up! This isn't an official look book from us, although the Selectism post makes it seem that way.

The photographer is a cool guy that Matt's friends with. He's an up-and-coming fashion photographer and he borrowed our clothing to do a "test shoot" with those male models. In that, the models and photographer both work for free in order to produce some great images for each other's portfolios. We lent them clothes and gave them free reign on styling them. So this is our in-house pieces as seen through someone else's literal and figurative lens. I dig it how it came out.

I'm going to personally shoot another "Epaulet Outfits" feature this week with our friend Dylan Boelte. He's a fashion and music industry veteran, regular Epaulet customer, and all around cool-as-s*** guy. The photos are going to be boss!

Absolutely, but it's most likely going to be next Spring. That one's a classic. If we're sold out of your size, hit up Steven at Leffot - I know that he gets regular deliveries of that same exact style too.

Awesome! This BW suit is going to be fantastic. The cloth is gorgeous, and the color is slightly muted, so it won't be screaming out "PLAID" at everyone. And the pieces will be brilliant as separates. I'm sure that we'll run waistcoats in it too.

And no need to send in a deposit now, we don't even have the cloth yet. It's coming via sea freight from Europe. I'll post up a note when it arrives and we'll have plenty of cloth for special orders, no worries.

I'm happy to report that we had an EXCELLENT round of meetings at Southwick yesterday. There's lots of exciting things in work, and we'll establish separate RTW and MTO collections this Fall. The MTO is going to be fantastic, and we'll have a bunch of exclusive options that can be added to our jackets - including a whole range of buttons and colored suede elbow patches. What 'chu know about a DB Hopsack blazer with cream patches and white mother of pearl buttons??? Such things will be possible with unbeatable pricing and a gonzo-short turnaround time.

Oh my god, pics of the white DB linen blazer? I'm going to a wedding in Vienna in two weeks and I'm kicking myself in the ass for not getting something like that in time.

Noted and interested. Will these be on the Forest last?

Yup, definitely the Forest last for those. We'll get that off the ground next week.

Ah sorry about that. This goes along with the blake/moccasin construction on the loafers and unfortunately it can happen with a decent, though not excessive amount of wear. It's not nearly as durable or long-wearing as goodyear welting. But it's easy to fix if you want to run it by a cobbler. And since it happened so quickly, shoot me over your order number - we'll put through a partial discount to cover that work.

The Marcello has about a half inch of seam allowance running through it, so if it's just a bit tight at the button, then you can easily have that let out. It's an inexpensive job too, as there's no liner to work around.

Any of this stuff is okay. You can even use something cheap and common like Kiwi mink oil. Chromexcel is really freaking tough and nothing short of hardcore wax polish is going to put a shine onto it. Any cream is going to darken the natural CXL a bit, just so you're prepared.

If not, how easily can a tailor address this issue? It seems like there's some complex balance/drape issues at play in this particular area.
A good tailor can modify the Walt and the Rudy into nearly anything. Adele gets the Walt 30's effectively tailored into womens pants - which fit better than actual womens pants. With the seam allowances and split waistband, they're very easy to work with.

Shoot some pics and PM me when you have a chance. I can check it out and see if you need to drop a size.

Oh I think that the Marcello is a great fit. Thanks so much for picking it up! I'm sure that some trad guys in MC will tell you that it's too tight, but most of our customers like that super slim fit and a tiny bit of puckering with the button closed. If it's uncomfortable, you can certainly have it let out a touch in the center back - there's more than enough seam allowance to do that.

I'll have everyone note how freaking smooth that lapel is despite how slim that jacket fits. I could look at that all day. Man, those guys in Naples really know how to cut a jacket.

Thank you! I'm THRILLED with the response that the Italia shirts have received. It was a totally new venture for us, and we've got great things planned with this line. The brilliant part about making shirts in Europe is getting access to specialty fabrics that would be impossible to get in the United States - at least at a reasonable price. We're going to do a collection of Fall shirts with gorgeous Austrian tattersall and patterned cloth.

How do you guys like the hidden B/D collar? I'm thinking of rolling with that for every Italia shirt.

navy gingham and buffalo check shirts look awesome with the leaf ducks, that's usually what I end up wearing with mine. If I'm going super casual, I'll just throw on a heather grey or navy v-neck and that works well too.

I suddenly decided I need an Italia red gingham in my closet.

Mike, if Epaulet medium fits me like a glove (I've posted a fit pic before), should I take small in Ashland? I'm scared of the 19.5" chest measurement, being 38" chest myself.

Btw, Mike will be 3k with his next post.

Is your chest actually 38"? Because my chest is actually 38" but I think an Epaulet Large might even be snug around my chest. I need shirts that have like 42-43" chests... if you're a 38" chest, you can't wear a shirt with a chest that measures literally exactly 38" (i.e., 19 inches pit-to-pit)... it HAS to be bigger than that.
