LOL, I probably could have sized down to a 32, but stayed with a 33, cause I'm gettin' older and the metabolism is slowing down. Also, the fact that these ca be altered makes it easier to buy a bit bigger and have them taken in. You could take them out, but sometimes with cotton it leaves little marks where the original thread was.

Ah, thanks for picking them up! I'm really glad that you like them. They've been selling slowly online because you can't really see the fabric detail, but they've actually been one of our strongest in-store trousers. I absolutely love the cloth on those.

And as NYR said, the new delivery of chinos this week have a slightly tweaked fit. We collected feedback from about 50 regular rivet chino customers and had a long meeting with the patternmaker a few weeks ago. When we put the new chino design into work, we cut the waist measurement and pitched the waistband onto an angle. About 70% of customers felt that the fit was consistent to a little bit tight, and about 30% found the fit to be too tight - and needed to size up.

The new delivery has an extra 0.5" in the waistband from the first two runs. It has about 0.25" more room in the seat. And the legs and other measurements are the same. I basically split the difference between the two shapes, and I'm confident that this will result in a true-to-size fit for the majority of our customers. We sold around 35 pairs of the new delivery in my shops this weekend, so we've seen it in action, and the new tweaked fit worked brilliantly. We also made some changes to the interior construction - especially in the crotch - to strengthen all of the crucial seams.

When we put the 7oz chinos online this week, we'll formally update all of the measurements. I believe that we've nailed it with this. If you own any of the newer Rivet Chinos (with regular buttons), I'd recommend for you to continue getting the size that you did before. The extra half inch is a very small difference. If any of you guys had to let out the pairs that you bought, chances are you won't have to do that from here on in. And if you own an OG Rivet Chino with metal tack buttons, you should definitely order the same size in this new model. They'll be coming soon!

I didn't think the fit between the older Rivets and the new ones was significantly different, at least on my body shape...so it's good to know that I'll be able to keep ordering the same size - I'm a 34 in both the old and new style, so I'll be placing an order as soon as the new 7oz chinos are up this week!

What about the length of the new tweaked fit? I liked that the newer fit seemed to be slightly longer (36" vs about 35.5"). My legs pretty long, so I liked that I was able to get a beefier cuff on the new Rivets. Were there any other restocks of the 10oz chinos going up as well, or are the new 7oz the only ones going up this week?

Clay should arrive any day now. I'm going to hold off on doing any more Alden preorder projects until I receive Alden's confirmations on the ones that we submitted. But provided they come in the usual time frame, then I can swing some more projects in the late Spring or so.

Great! The new 34 should fit you totally fine - actually a bit better than before. And every Rivet Chino has a full 36" inseam these days.

The 7oz are the new ones, but we should also get restocks of prior models (Khaki, Clay, Gunmetal, Navy, Black, French Blue Duck, Caramel Duck, Plum Duck, etc). Digital Camo and Oxford Cloth shirting chinos should be here shortly too.

another re-stock question. Navy twill walts coming back? I was gonna buy a pair, got lazy, and now there is no 32.

oh and have there been any pics with the loro piana windowpane as a full suit? would like to see that, though it may be dangerous because i need a navy suit....

Definitely. Twill Walts will return in Navy, Khaki, Gunmetal, Cloud, and Moss. And we'll add in Racing Green Twill, Royal Blue, and Black.

For linens, we'll restock Irish Navy and Irish Steel. Mandarin, Scarlet, and Linen Windowpane are all fully cut, so that's all we'll get for this year.

And Petrol Blue Egyptian cotton will return as well!

I have a bunch of suit pics on hand - they'll all go live with the Loro Piana jacket. And we've got additional fabric on hand to cut special orders in both trousers and jackets for it.

Thanks for the update Mike. I will put my deposit money aside and hold it until you are ready. I just need to resist ordering a few pairs of the rivets when the clay and the chino fabrics come in.

Are there any plans to make chinos in a cut like the Rudy trousers?

I find that sizing up in the Rivet Chinos works for a Rudy-only guy like me. I wear a 34 Rudy and a 36 in the Rivet Chino (although a 35, if it existed, probably would be perfect).

Another 7oz day today...wish it was a 40oz day, but those were long, long ago.
