It is profoundly un-manly if I can't pronounce it, or if I have to make funny mouth shapes while saying it.

I grew up eating quiche, so I just think of it as normal.

I've never heard anyone call quiche effete. In fact it seems to be reasonably popular in most urban settings whenever one ventures into a decent cafe or French restaurant.
