Hi everyone! After some extensive research I've nailed it down to three options for my wedding tuxedo.
1. Wizard of Aahs finally has their Marco Valentino (MV) peak tuxedos available
2. JAB Signature (more expensive, and some say inferior to the Wizard, but see dilemma below)
3. Custom made tuxedo by turkish tailor here in Baghdad where I work ($300)
Here is the dilemma. I've heard that what really matters for tuxedos is how well they fit. I am a 41R, but a bit towards 40R, although 40R is too small. The MV tuxedo only comes in even sizes, so I guess I would get their 42R. Will a tailor be able to chop it all the way down to my size without some compromises in other areas of the tux? I've also heard the Wizard of Aahs tuxes are big even for their size, so maybe I should consider their 40R?
The JAB comes in a 41R, which is why I would consider it so that it would fit better to begin with and need less drastic alteration, although several people seem to prefer the MV in quality
I just ordered a suit from this tailor here in Baghdad who seems quite competent and makes everything from scratch (MTM I guess). He brought me in for a second fitting session to get the jacket just right before making the whole thing. He says he can make tuxes, but I don't know about the quality of his materials, or his workmanship on tuxedos. The suit is ready on friday. If the suit looks good, should I take the risk and have him make me a tuxedo? He charges $300 for a 2 piece suit or tuxedo (work and materials). Are there questions I should ask him to ascertain the quality? His English isn't so good. Could it be worth buying some material online and having it delivered if his isn't that good? Of his wall of fabrics, he recommended 4-5 as higher quality than the others, and a solid black (for the tux) was not among them, which is why I'm concerned about fabric quality.
Thanks for your thoughts and advice and sorry this was so long!
