I signed up for Netflix a few years ago and would usually rip the movies to my computer and watch them when I had a chance. This meant I was usually sending the movies back the day after I received them. After about 2-3 months, Netflix started sending the movies out a lot slower. Apparently, they monitor how quickly you send things back and will delay you so you only receive so many movies a month. This was a few years ago though, so things may have changed.

Unfortunately, this has not changed , MJC. Per their own Terms of Service, Netflix refuses the right to punish customers who rent more films per film by delaying their replacements: http://www.netflix.com/TermsOfUse#how (See the Paragraph Titled "Allocation, Delivery and Return of Rented DVDs.")

We hold Netflix as part of our investment portfolio. It is up nearly 100 percent on the year <3

I've had the same problem recently. I send in movies on Monday only to receive them Thursday, sometimes Friday, as opposed to the Monday-Wednesday turnaround I used to get. The mail around here tends to suck though, so I figured it was the Post Office. From all of the complaints, however, it looks like that's not the case. Too bad, it used to be such a great service.

Got five movies this morning, AND watched episoded 3-6 of Dollhouse on Hulu at the same time. All for the price of one internet connection.

It's gotten better lately. Dropped a movie in a USPS box Tuesday evening, got the notification that it had arrived at like 9 AM on Wed. New movie was shipped Wed. and received today.

Proud of being a leech?

Netflix is awesome.

What you do is put a hundred or so movies in your queue so that while you are waiting for the next movie to arrive at your place you atleast a handful of the movies are instant and you can satisfy your movie watching urges until the movie you want comes.

Southpark seasons 1-9 are available on instant, as well as others.

I feel like I have seen Top Gear, but I could be making that shit up.

Hmm... well, I suppose. Maybe I've rationalized my way clear of any feelings of guilt, but I don't believe I ever really had any. Consider that if it weren't available for free online, I'd likely not waste my money on it at all. Half the stuff I'm downloading isn't widely available here in the U.S. anyways. So either way, I am not cheating anyone out of money that I'd be giving them otherwise. Anything I really truly enjoy, I try to pick up a hard copy of at some point, when I CAN afford it. Plus, occasionally, I am able to influence people who DO have the money to pay for these things. I consider myself more of a scavenger or opportunist than a leech. I consider it part of my education as a budding filmmaker. I assume that when and if I finish my film, that people will also "steal" it online rather than buying the dvd or seeing it in theaters, or whatever - and I don't have a huge problem with that.

I happen to be one of those people who feel like the more people who see or hear and are influenced by something worthwhile, the better. Art is not necessarily something that has a monetary value. But like I said, maybe I'm just rationalizing.
