Suede jeans

Forum, What are your opinions of suede jeans?  I'm looking at a pair in caramel by Zanella (they make great moleskin jeans).  I've posted a poor picture, mostly to give you an idea of the color. Thanks, John

-1 aside from looking bad, sounds like a bitch to keep in good shape/clean

Camel colored suede is a bit harder to pull off. I've seen great suede pants in dark brown and dark olive. They can look really nice if pulled off correctly.

The first is an understatement, to say the least. The second works in LA, NYC, *maybe* SF, not in the midwest. Maybe in Texas if you are a real biker and can convince other people those as chaps. Even then, you shouldn't be bigger than a 42L (40L is probably normative) with at least an 8 drop, and really, really, good looking. Saw a guy look great with tan suede pants and a linen shirt though, but he was super fit (and not Ahnold style) and had the right hair (long, rocker style), super hot girl, everything. Of course, if you are David Bowie or Mick Jagger, that's something else altogether. Something tells me you are neither.

Thanks, folks. Sounds like they'll work perfectly for me.

Those are pretty cool looking... If you can pull it off, go for it.

LOL. I dunno. Invoke the golden rule: try them on and if you think they look bad, they probably do.

I've always liked them, but have never thought I'd be able to pull it off.  In my earlier years, I came close to buying a pair of not-very-suede-looking tan suede jeans, but I've always hesitated at the "when would I wear these" question.   These days, there's not a chance I'd buy/wear them.  I've had girlfriends over the years who have worn them (alas, my wife does not) and I've always thought they looked (and smelled) great. Edit: I take it the Zanella jeans you're considering are those now substantially discounted at virtualclotheshorse.com?

This is true. However, you are not a girl. In all likelihood you probably couldn't pull off a "bro" either.
