Very rare movie for US . Feels like that movie could have been made in 1970s in black and white and staged in Europe.
Wonderful performances by Ben Kingsley (Da mensch) and Dennis Hopper and often naked Penelope Cruise.

"Sexy beast" was a bit stupid, but Ben was completely in character. Great method acting. He transcended his own persona and was completely believable as a brutal and extremely insecure criminal.

I saw it this past week. It's one of these 'fleeting intimacy' movies that 2008 saw a lot of: The Visitor, Vicky Christina Barcelona, etc. Not bad but not great either. Kind of reminded me of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, for some reason. Not to be watched by those suffering from depression, or just getting out of a relationship.
