I suspect a lot of the popularity of Springers and Cockers is due to the fact that they are such adorable looking puppies. Chows, too--they look like little fuzzy animated teddy bears.

^My neighbor has a chow pup and that is accurate.

Springers don't do much for me in the looks department. Hopefully it will be a cool dog nonetheless.

I agree - never liked the Springer. Central Asian Ovcharka guarding chickens.

I think they are all ugly as **** honestly. I just don't see the appeal of them.

Though I don't disagree with your point. I am well aware I'm in the minority here.

Also what the hell is up with people who don't stop their dogs from barking at people? I was just walking my dog, and some guy walks by with 2 dogs. Both were going ape **** barking and trying to get to my dog, and he makes no movement whatsoever to stop them. He just keeps walking, acting like that's how dogs are suppose to be or something. Of course my dog barked once, got disciplined, and stopped immediately.

Nothing beats my grandmother though. When her papillon (another breed I hate) starts barking or being annoying in some way, instead of disciplining her, she gives her a treat. So now when I try to get her to stop barking by smacking her or whatever she tries to bite me.

Half German Shepherd, half mut.

I'll post a picture later. I've actually got to run out right now to get her bathed and Furminated (which is amazingly awesome btw)

Edit: Thought you said what dogs do I have. As far as dogs I like, I would say I like 95% of all dogs. I just strongly dislike fluffy miniature dogs in general. I just think they are very ugly.

^I'd hardly call Springers and Chows "fluffy miniature" dogs!

3 were very young (10 weeks). The other about 7 months. All were female. The older one, I'm told, used to be very timid but has been doing much better lately. She seemed quite calm - certainly much more so than my dog at 7 months (or even now for that matter).

I don't have much experience with 10 week olds, having adopted my dog at about 4 months, so not much frame of reference there. One of the babies was very bold, and seemed to really enjoy chewing on my hand. None seemed shy. When another dog walked by and barked, all barked back and were straining on their leashes. None of them objected to me playing with their paws, nor were they concerned when rolled over on their backs.

A couple of rowdy girls getting some exercise this morning:

Across the border from here there is a pet store that sells puppies.. The practice has been banned here in the netherlands, but apparently still persists in Belgium. Went in to take a look.. Those puppy eyes are hard to resist, especially for the GF, but had a hunch and inquired about the prices for the dogs. Turned out that they were selling them for about half to a third for what a kennel with a reputation would ask. It saddens me to think what kind of problems those puppies might have in the future..

Nice pictures of the pits BTW.. Looking forward to the day where we can accomodate a dog in our lives

^At least they were selling their pups cheaply at the pet store. Most of the pet stores that sell puppies here in the states charge as much or more than an "ethical" breeder would, at least in my limited experience. (Of course, I often suspect that "ethical breeder" may be an oxymoron!)
