What is the correct introduction??? - Page 4

Actually ronrover, I think it displayed experience and balls calling him by his first name. These guys at the top, most of the time, are pretty down to earth guys, and it totally flies by calling them mister blah blah blah because they hear it so often. Sometimes they look for personality in their workplace, and they can find it when someone calls them by their first name. It shows you are confident. You guys in that meeting were all middle-aged men, there is no room for acting like an amateur anymore with formal titles. *After you call him by his first name, however, you must punch him in the face and usurp his position at the top. jk

I say "umm" until they look at me, then I point at the one I'm talking to.

Big day. My agency pitch is prepared -- it's perfect. Now it's all about presentation. What I'm wearing says everything before I say anything. The fabrics, leathers, and metals have the power of speech. They say this isn't my first big pitch. It's not my last. I'm confident, not cocky, comfortable in my Italian leather shoes. My rolled-up sleeves confirm I mean business, yet the cufflinks on the table show we can relax. The diamond solitaire fountain pen says I've accomplished success, the way I'm holding it implies it wasn't easy. Nothing worthwhile ever is. Let's begin.

You can accomplish the same thing minus the violence through a handshake.

Yes!

As has already been said, it depends on your age and how senior you are. The older and more senior you are the more you can do away with formalities.

As someone made a comment to you later, I suspect that you are at least reasonably young, and not in a senior position comparable to the others present. You should have called him Mr., or done away with his name altogether "How do you do, I am Robert Thompson", or even just "Robert Thompson".

Its ALWAYS Mr. or Ms. Mrs. until you are offered a preferred or more personal name by the person.
