I just started with a spin class, and I think it's great. It's a good way to force yourself to do 45 hard minutes of consistent cardio. I tend to be a lazy guy as it is, so having a standing, scheduled 45 minute block I can't shirk, can't cheat, and am pushed to hit hard is a great thing. I would never hit a treadmill or elliptical for that long, at that kind of intensity, on my own.
Other people can knock them as girly or whatever, and that's fine, but it smacks of gym douchebaggery to me.
