Depends on if you're getting a table, etc. If you're getting a centre dancefloor table at XS (where the bill is guaranteed to be $5k+), then you could get in wearing almost anything. Heck, I've worn a New Era fitted to Tao before.

The least you can get away with (if you're an average joe) is black shoes, dark jeans, dark t-shirt. I personally never wear a dress shirt or dress pants in Vegas.

Vegas is an interesting place - lots of people there have cash - but clothes go a long way to signaling how you deserve to be treated. Of course, you need to know how you WANT to be treated. I usually wear a jacket almost everywhere. I dress fairly conservatively. That gets me good treatment in restaurants and casinos. It's not the best way to find a trashy girl for a one-nighter or get past a line at a night club (they'll expect you to buy a table). If you're looking for the latter, I'd suggest you watch a few episodes of Jersey SHore and imitate as best you can

currently all i have is nicer streetwear, dark denims, oxfords, button-ups, layering sweaters, sneakers and banged up boots, will i need dress pants/jacket or suit considering i have none of those

Check the dress codes of any ultra-high-end dinners if you have them planned (JR at the Mansion, Picasso, Alex, etc.). These are the only places that would require a suit or dress slacks. Jeans are probably acceptable almost anywhere else you'll go. Also if you plan on hitting an adult "ballet", I would wear some nicer shoes and avoid t-shirts.

clean looking denim are ok for nightlife and such?

in my experience, yes. I would not wear anything w/ heavy distressing, but Denim should be fine in all but the most upscale restaurants.

Based on what I saw recently, Alex will serve you if you're wearing denim and horrific ed hardy-esque shirts.

Ed Hardy everywhere... there was even a Christian Audigier nightclub at TI ... I remember seeing something like $175 bottles.

haha yeah the other thing i wanted to know is to where to hang out to avoid those douches, i'm aware i'll have to go to one of those clubs at least one night but i'm curious about more interesting spots

Every casino has a few lounge bars. Usually there is some entertainment, and good (but expensive) drinks. I like the round bar in HRH, the center bar at MGM, the lounge in the Wynn - Great view of all the girls going into Tryst, and the shadow bar at Cesar's. Sports books can be fun places to drink when there are games going on. If you watch the No Reservations episode from Vegas, bourdain goes to some truly off-the-beaten path dive bars.

haha yeah that vegas episode is awesome, if i can convince my friends we may go for a wander around old vegas
