Dark Chocolate Cover Espresso Beans, most addicting snack!

They really are. My co-worker bought a big thing of them from Trader Joe's and I can't stop eating them. At first I was like, ewww bitter. 71% Cocoa and Espresso can be harsh on the palate together, but once that buzz kicked in... quickly I might add... I was hooked. Everytime I pass the bowl I take a few. At 5-10mg of caffeine per bean (there seems to be no consensus) they're pretty strong.

Anyone else a fan?

Yes I love them, have since I was sixteen.

When I moved to DC I had a big bag of these in the car with me. I have no idea how much caffeine I consumed, but I was definitely a little twitchy and lightheaded. Kept my eyes on the road, though! And so delicious...

I like them but they're too potent for me to have more than two or three.

They are quite addicting. The bitterness is what really draws me in. Typically candies are way to sweet for my palate.

As a reference point, 80-90% cacao content is my preferred chocolate blend.

I'm kind of surprised none of the larger chocolate or coffee actually mass produces these. Coffee beans are super cheap per kilo and, given the amount used, so is the chocolate.

Hersheys sells a bar with espresso beans IIRC, if not I Know for a fact targets choxie line carries it for relatively inexpensive... and they usually don't sell so the price gets marked down every few months as they near their expiration.

I've never seen the Hershey's bar, but wasn't really looking until now. I'll check out Target. Harris Teeter wants $7.99 for a little 4 oz. package!

My gf loves them and spends this much for 4oz. Would it not be much easier (and cheaper) to but espresso beans, not necessarily Illy but maybe Lavazza, and a decent 85% chocolate and make them at home?

double boil the chocolate, place beans on a sheet of parchment paper, drizzle chocolate on top? Or if you really wanted go buy a little pastry mold to give them a perfect shape?

Maybe this needs to be my next blog post...

^yes, but we live in a country where people buy pre-filled coffee filters and pre-made pb & j sandwiches.
if you have the patience, go for it.

You can get a 14oz. package at Trader Joe's for $3.99 with no work on your part.

At home bark or bars would probably be the easiest thing, but I'm sure that drizzling or molds could also turn out well. It might be a bit tricky if you wanted individual, separated beans.
