I have on several occasions been coerced into going somewhere with the promise that we would get fried chicken on the way.

Oh, I always get the chicken. Or I will get out of the car at a stoplight nearest to the grocery store. People know this.

In my experience, the quality of the fried chicken is inversely related to the niceness of the restaurant. The best fried chicken I have ever had was at a South Carolina $5 all-you-can-eat BBQ restaurant.

That place is soooooooo awesome, yet so bad for you. Their fried chicken, gizzards, and livers, are all beyond next level. That place is walking distance from my office, and as such there is a guy who gets food there probably 4 out of 5 days per work week (sometimes 5 for 5...), and he's been doing it, apparently, for years. I have no idea how he is still alive.
