Do you use coupons? - Page 2

Used to use coupons and the "club card" or whatever equivalent is back when I was in college. Regular supermarket etc. Now in NYC it's harder to get to a place that doesn't suck that has coupons. I usually just go to Whole Foods....not sure if they have coups...

Primarily Costco's monthly coupon book.

I get on a kick and use them for a few weeks, then forget about them for a few months.. rinse, repeat. Rarely buy stuff online w/o at least scouring the web for a free shipping coupon.

+1. My room mate does so when we go to Soup Plantation, he presents them to the cashier. I don't go to supermarkets so coupons does not apply.

I might, but I don't get a newspaper or anything and that's where my mom got all of her coupons when I was growing up.
Usually only bothered with good coupons, like $1 off boxes of cereal (and this was a while ago when they cost less).

Now the only times I use them are when someone on SF or on slickdeals posts about a spectacular deal that requires a printable coupon.
I buy cereal based on what is on sale though smile.gif I love almost all cereals so it doesn't make any sense to buy anything but the stuff that is on sale.

Truth. I do the same for shampoo, all shampoo is the same for me. I grab whatever's on sale.

No, I don't. Although I usually try to get free shipping when I order online.

No coupon = No buy.

But you have to be careful because a lot of times the stores will trick you into paying more if you don't know what you're doing. For example they'll run a deal like $10 off a $50 purchase but then put NOTHING of any importance on sale, so you're spending that $50 on entirely full-priced items, whereas you may have actually been able to buy the things you wanted for even cheaper had you waited until they went on sale. You have to know the market value of everything you buy and how much it goes on sale for. Every day is like The Price is Right!

Just out of curiosity, how much time doyou guys spend on looking for and collecting and organize your coupons?

Where I live, the only places that really give out coupons are fast food places and I definitely use them. I used one recently and got free cake at Coldstone Creamery and I have one for a free pizza anytime next month.

Only online coupons for me.

I use them without embarrassment. Every week the Walgreens or CVS will have alternating sales on soap, toilet paper, shampoo, vitamins ETC. To me it's kind of a game and I win when I get things cheap or even free. If there is a sale on toilet paper or whatever and I have coupons, I stock up. I've never understood the idea of buying a single roll of toilet paper. Are the people that buy that way expecting some kind of physical transformation that will eliminate the need for toilet paper? Worst case scenario is that I die suddenly and leave several rolls of toilet paper. It just becomes part of my estate. LOL Yesterday I got $55 worth of vitamins for $15.50. That's $39.50 in real money in my pocket. When I buy clothing online I always check a couple of sites like FatWallet and see if I can log on through them and get a small rebate.
