(RJMan @ May 16 2005,00:07) Quite proud of my new avatar -- Terry Stamp as the lovestruck obsessive in The Collector, from the cover of the Smiths' What Difference Does It Make single...  Pretty much covers all the angles.
Terrence Stamp was an obsessive collector of Cleverley bespoke shoes -- a Brit Jun Kuwana.  About five years ago, he contracted an illness which drastically altered the shape of his feet.  He can't wear any of them any more.
Well, in interviews I've read he's not quite sure what happened. He theorized that it was ageing as well as the crazy footwear in Priscilla that changed his feet. He apparently has not gotten new shoes but sold off all of his Cleverleys (to Jun? Who knows?) about seven years ago. In the interview I read, he was wearing Eccos. The Cleverley thing is one of my reasons for putting him up.

$0.02 for the first person who can name where "I am the son and the heir" phrase comes from, other than faustian bargain (per his post). I haven't heard that in a long time. Brings back memories.

The Smiths, "How Soon is Now?" Morrissey was influenced by George Eliot's "Middlemarch", FYI. PM me for paypal details.

they use a cover of it for the tv show 'charmed', it sounds like the psychedelic furs.

The horror..

still, don't know why he didn't go back to Glasgow and Carnera to have some new ones made. Despite appearing in tripe like The Haunted Mansion I'm pretty sure Terry could afford them. Of course, his old Cleverleys were the real deal, made, I believe, by the man himself when he ran his own shop in the 1960s before joining New & Lingwood.

Did the Smiths take that actual line from Middlemarch? Avatar: I really want to find a pic of Bresch doing one of his "Action Figure" poses. It would make a swell avatar, I think. And it would serve to remind me that one is only as good as his last 'outfit'. But the AAAC archive is kaput.
