I assume you mean as a participant for the last. Watching any kind of shooting match when you are not a participant is about as exciting as watching paint dry, IMO, anyway. I found the various "action" shooting sports rather tedious: An endless amount of standing around interspersed with a few quick "runs" that were over in a few seconds. At least in classic bull's-eye matches, you get to do a lot of shooting.

You are more complex than I thought, Justin. I wouldn't have thought a fan of Bishop Spong would also be an IPSCer.

G'Day Jan

Actually, I enjoy watching it - in small doses. My shooting is VERY practical, though uncompetitive - just me plinking outside with my daily cary pistol or the G3.

I don't think I've ever expressed any real opinion on Spong - as that would be mixed and a little too serious/work-like for styleforum play.

I did mention that I'd written for Soldier of Fortune magazine, didn't I?

If you had mentioned that you have written for SOF, I was oblivious to it. You are a complex individual. I've met Bob Brown on a number of occasions but can't say I "know" him.

Complex? Thanks, most people just call me a little crazy ... probably worse when I'm not around!

Never met any of them, though I can imagine Brown is quite a character. I really liked Dale Dye when he was working there. I have a lot of respect for Kokalis' expertise and writing.

Anyway, I have to run and we should stop clogging-up a thread on sports.

This is a slight generalization of course...

+1

It would be tough if Motorcycle Racing was added in with auto's though.

MMA for its violence and honesty about that violence. Motorcycle Racing for it's combination of speed and finesse at the same time.

Both sports take a very long time to really understand what you are seeing. Much more intricate then a casual fan sees. A lot of other sports seem to have lost their purity and you very rarely get to learn about the men just from watching them preform.

The only sports I watch and follow with interest are Formula One, Cricket and Rugby. I'm happy to watch anything else, but they just don't appeal to me in the same way.

college lacrosse is very easily the most entertaining to watch for the athletic merit.

the purely most entertaining sport from an entertainment standpoint is womens beach volleyball or womens tennis IMO.

Is this a haiku?

Baseball. I also like hockey and football (American, not soccer), but baseball is my favorite by far.

Those of you that prefer college football over NFL: I'm curious as to your reasoning.

Outside of cheering for your alma mater, what attracts you to college football? Is it the longer length of the games? The higher scoring offenses? Different offensive schemes such as the spread or the option?

Because I tend to think that the NFL has superior athletes, better defenses, closer games, and more plays that make you say "wow!"
