just my $0.02, I would get the Samurais, but just because ive been wanting some really havy denim.

Good. Starting off with starter denim is not going to help you with anything. My first denims were APCs and I don't even wear them. Anyway, it isn't your first car, it isn't your first musical instrument , it's just denim.

Recheck your initial stats. None of your jeans have a 9" hem, which is pretty big. The 005 is very slim and the eternal is not far behind. Assuming you are a size 32, both jeans will have hems that are more or less 8". The samurai is 8.5", which is pretty versatile. The rise is low on the 005 and 10.5 on the samurai VX. The eternal Im not sure.

If you are not used to slim jeans and just want some nice straight legged jeans, the VX is the way to go. It is the one I would choose. I'm wearing a similar pair of samurai's right now (5000BK) and I like them.

I am kind of between the eternal and samurai...I really don't want a slim fitting pair of jeans though, so I'm starting to lean more towards the samurai, even though I kind of like the look of the eternals better. The measurements on the samurai and the eternals look fairly similar to me though...

I'm completely fine with an 8" or 8.5" hem. Any tips on sizing the samurais would be much appreciated. The most important numbers to me are the bottom/front rise and the thighs.

A little more info: the bottom rise on my fav pair of jeans is 14.5".

Another difference I'm mulling over is that the samurai's are 17oz and the eternals are 14.5...I'm wondering if they'll be much of a heat difference come summer..

The eternals you are looking at come with a 39" inseam. The regular ones are much shorter with a smaller hem. If you hem the 39" long monsters the dimensions will change.

I went true to size on my samurai's, I think it was the right choice.
If you live in NYC you might want to check 45 rpm. Great jeans and free repairs for life.

I am embarrassed to admit I hadn't considered the problems that hemming the long inseam may bring. Thank you for pointing it out. Did you hem your samurais at all?

hemming is not an issue.
Give yourself tolerence for shrinkage and get them hemmed. It doesn't matter if they are chainstitched or straight stitched.
You are buying a jean that is very easy to hem its a straight leg not a flare

When you went true to size did you end up with a regular fit (as opposed to slim or baggy)

Yea, I would call it semi-slim but I would understand if someone consider mines regular. I didn't hem them, but I might in the future.

Lol, I was browsing shopfarinellis for crates and I noticed mauro doesn't even stock them. It says a lot about Crates that Mauro is really passionate about promoting them, yet he obviously doesn't make money from you buying them. I'd say go for those. edit: sorry, didn't realize you were set on the sammies or eternals. good luck!

Huh? I thought he's going to be stocking them shortly, or already does for phone orders only.
