Anyone here w/ AE Hampstead?

I have that EXACT shoe. I've got a pretty extensive shoe collection... AE, Mezlan, Gucci, Ferragamo, canali, ect...ect...ect... The Hampstead are my most complimented shoe. Bar none. They look absolutely amazing in person, and have held up very well. (They certainly are not 'old-mannish')

They are a very handsome looking and a very comfortable shoe! I wear mine quite often and also get many compliments on them!

These are very attractive in burnished chili or brown whatever the official term is.


These run a bit small if you have a slightly wide feet.
I do recommend you to go up one half size or get their E or EEE in your correct size.

Is the AE Hampstead on a different last than the AE Clifton and AE McClain? I wear a C width so I'm wondering if I should choose a D for the Hampstead based on the above info...

And can the Hampstead be worn year-round in a casual office (khakis and button down long sleeve, no coat / no tie)?

^No, no, and no. OK maybe the last one whatever you want but solid no's for the first two.

I have not worn mine for quite awhile but I remember they do draw compliments from random people. I like them in black as well as the chili.

Overall just a great shoe that looks its best when actually being worn.

That is probably true here as well, though I have some olive wingtips that compete. I have them in Chili, not as big a fan of the black. I may seek a new pair at some point to keep in nicer shape though, I have worn them a lot when the sun has been out.

I don't find them to be suitable outside of spring / summer. Maybe it depends on climate though.

Be aware that these are a discontinued model, so call the Shoe Bank and get your pair(s) before they're gone for good.

I have a pair as a summer shoe (in chili). +1 on the previous comments. Sad to hear it's discontinued.

It is kind of funny that you ask if they are too old mannish. My grandfather has a pair very similar (not sure of the brand but they are quite old) that he wears a few times each summer. They always caught my attention.

This is the term I thought of when I saw them.

I often don't trust compliments from other people except some few close family members or friends.

Most of the time, people see your shoes, they found them look "interesting", they will say "nice shoes" but that doesn't mean the shoes are actually nice, it might mean "you have pretty interesting taste", or "tell me more about them", or "I am just being polite here"...

Well still, I do have a pair, and I do get compliments, I just don't trust those compliments, and IMO, they're just ok... A pain to take care of though
