Kings (TV Show)

Anyone hear anything about this? It's supposed to premiere Sunday. The premise is that it's a retelling of the story of King David, set in the modern day in an alternate universe. Which sounds like the tits to me.

I've seen a few commercials. It looks pretty good, at least decent enough to check out. I've set the DVR to record it, I'm optimistic it will be worth my time.

southland sounds more interesting, kings just seems a bit too fantasized for me.

anything with ian mcshane should be eminently watchable.

I don't have time to watch it now and I don't have a DVR. I hope they put it online.

It should have been grittier and rougher.. Seems a bit cheesy and forced at times. The military part was absolutely retarded (uhm.. they have tanks and we don't.. )

You guys may have seen the only episode. Apparently ratings were horrendous.

seemed too self conscious, like they know they are half competing with hbo/showtime and hqalf competing with desperate housewives.

That's awful. It was a waste of two hours. Stupid plot, bad acting, etc. Just bad all around.

Agreed. It was like they pushed too hard trying to get to HBO/Showtime quality. Network TV just doesn't have the resources to create the special effects needed to show things like war scenes and fake crowds. Everything that required special effects looked like it was taken from a movie released 25 years ago.

Anyone keep watching? I caught the first few episodes last week.
I like it, but I have pretty low standards for TV shows.
